Well that started well. Walk the mile to the leisure centre, changed and went to the gym, a 5 minute warm up walk and set off with my normal trot pace. 2 minutes later, a twinge in my left hamstring, slowed to a walk again and the twinge went away. Tried upping the pace and it came back.

Discretion being the better part of valour, decided to leave the celebratory run until another day. I did however take the long (2 and a half miles) route back home.

Yep - I too approached my first post-grad run like a god...and slinked home like a drowned weasel :) I guess I had a deluded picture in my head that a magic switch would be turned on once I graduated and that I would lope around without a care in the world :)

No matter - we are still Graduate Runners 'ol chum :)

Shame stewieUK but it happens. It will be better next time ;)

Seems to be a bit of a pattern. My calf flared up the mo end I graduated. I'm sure Irish-John is right - we approach our guest grad runs like gods forgetting we've only just managed week 9 !! Hope it settles quickly, my calf has with the right stretches but I have had to slow down again.

I'm just back from a walk - and wondering how on earth I have run as much as I have!!! LOL tomorrow will have to remember the first few minutes always seem to make the whole thing impossible :) Slow and steady though.. :)

I think you're right John. I had great expectations of yesterday's effort and probably started out a bit quick (? the tortoises would still have beaten me!). I'll try again over the weekend; who knows might even try a run outdoors!

I'll be heading out myself shortly 🙂 running outside is always interesting, you never know who or what you'll see and it really has thought me a lot about not being so darn hung up on myself ☺ I live it in a way walking never did for me, really heightens the senses and experience. I have no clue how I'll do - last run was an eye opener to the fact I am still in may ways a newbie but it will be better than decaying mentally and physically on the couch, that's for sure ☺
