I went out for my first post graduation run this morning and I've been reading all the posts on here about all the exciting and experimental things everyone has been trying with their new found freedom. However, I decided I just want to consolidate my 30 minutes. Naked running, not yet headphones are still a good "do not disturb" sign for passers by. Stepping stones sounds way too scary and I'm not sure I want to be told what to do for a while. So I set off with Runkeeper keeping me informed and my favourite playlist in my ears to try a new route.
I set off through the village again, very bravely passing the industrial units this time, pleased to report there was no-one about! I actually didnt cross paths with anyone today - just a few dog walkers across the fields. I travelled in the opposite direction to normal along the sea wall and continued around the previously impassable section - now freshly cut - won't be doing that again! It is so uneven with large cracks in the clay that I was forced back to snail pace - I've been quite enjoying tortoise mode π
Sadly I ran out of trail so had to retrace my steps for a while then turn but the new shoes were good, I felt good and I managed to add an extra minute to the end of my run only stopping when I reached the steep hill.
I just need to find a nice circular route, the disadvantages here in a small village is that circuits tend to be too short or way too long. One day .... Enjoyed my run though which is the important bitπ
Forgot to hit post this morning - wondered why nobody had replied!! Glad I did now though, I've had a really sh*t week at work and it's only Tuesday so much so that by the time I got home that lovely post run high had totally evaporated but then I spotted the card and remembered my lovely friends and hubby gave me this card for graduating C25Kπ I'm smiling again now.

They feel good. One of my heels is still very vulnerable so I taped cotton padding over to cushion it a bit. No problems though so fingers crossed for this pair.
I'm not aware of anywhere better that's less than 30 minutes away - we're right at the end of the line here! I just don't have the time. I have another plan in mind for Thursday though - haven't completely given up on routes yet. We're off on holiday in our caravan in a few weeks so really looking forward to somewhere new to run. We have a lovely 6k and 10k route but I'm not ready for that yet but something to work towards though π
I tried to move straight to a 10k programme after graduating but very soon realised just how much doing C25K had taken out of me. Then I settled into 3 X 30 minute runs and not until I felt OK, progressed to do a 5k. Be kind to yourself and keep up regular running, goals will soon come along when you are ready
That's my plan. I think I would like to be able to run every day if I choose. Little and often is easier to fit into my day - will also work for me when I eventually get another dog who will be my running companion π No idea how to mov towards that yet though - early days.
Yep not something I'm planning any time soon. If I sneak a dog in under hobbies radar before I'm ready. Will just have to be long walks in the other days. I'm enjoying this so much I don't want to risk injury.
Yes. I still need the security of being told by Runkeeper when to run after my warm up and when to cool down but I am loving my own music. There is less pressure if I run out of route too. My biggest stress is which of my lovely new outfits to choose π
I love that dilemma too. I choose to run without music with my lidl bottoms or my long karrimor tights with pocket for phone. Then I choose between 4 tops and 2 pairs of socks! Then I have to choose route and podcast or music. . . Its a wonder we have time to run!π
ππ nice to know we are all as bad as each other. Mind it took me 40 minutes to get out the door for this run. Also had to make decisions about the best protection for my blistered feetπ Was about to do the ironing but maybe I'll go and plan tomorrow's outfit instead ππ
