Not a radio 4 person but will be watching Mo Farah on Thursday might inspire me for Friday graduation

I like Mo Farah and I'm sure you'll smash your graduation run (looking forward to the speech). It was a bloke who at 54ish was grossly overweight and walking with a stick, who had inflammatory arthritis and was on loads of meds and now - at 60 - runs ultra marathons. Not bad. He took 18 months from starting running to his first marathon so maybe I'll adopt that as a timescale!!

I will be 54 two days after graduation and bless every day I am In good health but have nothing but admiration for those who life has dealt a bum card

It was over 30 mins into the program and if you blink you'll miss it because he was very softly spoken, but definitely inspirational!

Wasn't he - made me feel quite inspired!

We chatted about him while I was out with running club. 9 very hot, sticky unflat (!) Kms. We all agreed he was inspirational, if a little mad. Would never have believed I could run and chat a year ago, never mind be brave enough to run in a group of 'proper runners'. 😄

See, it's all do-able! Well done, I'm still working on running and chatting although as I run on my own that might seem a bit weird!

HURRAH! - It is saved on the BBC Radio Iplayer. I'm recording it now so I can listen to it later :) Thank you for posting that it was on :)

Pleasure - it's only brief and he's very softly spoken so I almost missed it! I just love hearing stories of overcoming adversity. Enjoy :)

It was fascinating to hear his story! I just wish they had dedicated more time to it :)

It was, wasn't it, and I particularly liked the fact that he accepted the responsibility for his earlier lifestyle choices. (That's Saturday morning magazine radio for you! - the brevity of the item)

They bloody well went on forever about the Moggies though - and I thought whassisname would never shut up, that Dancer bloke. Thank God for 'fast forward' on my player :)
