Today was W9R3....The place was Stevenage Parkrun...

The result was....smashed it πŸƒπŸ½

This program is amazing, I have gone from struggling in the early weeks (both physically and mentally), to actually running (more a fast foot shuffle) the whole 5k. To say I am astounded is an understatement!

Things I have learnt along the way...

*Slow is ok, listen to your body 🐒

*to avoid a dry mouth, wedge a mint between back teeth & cheek

*when going for an early run, beware of needing a πŸ’©(😱TMI-sorry)....I wish some one had warned me, it's hard to run with your butt clenched πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

*the support on here is amazing πŸ’•

*beat up those meddlesome gremlins πŸ‘ŠπŸΌ

Finally, thank you Laura for dragging said butt off the couch.

Ha ha - love the tag! I'm not sure fungal infections were actually mentioned! Congratulations and very well done. I'm hoping to join Banbury Park run on Saturday for my first post-grad run.

Definitely no fungal infections πŸ˜‚ Park run was brilliant, I have done 4 now (as run 3 of what ever week I was on) and have met some lovely people πŸ™‚

Brilliant post, I love the learnt things list and pictures too... So true about the πŸ’© So what's next for you on this exciting journey?

LadyHelen profile image
LadyHelenGraduate in reply to ju-ju-

Thank you...I really don't know ...I have registered for my local colour run at the end of the month, so will do W9 and repeat until then (although may attempt it without Laura and play my own music). After that....I really don't know, maybe try and look for a 5 to 10k app.......

Well done you!

Got to say I love an early run, but I'm now at the point of refusing to leave until I have *ahem* "been" πŸ’©

I think maybe I should enter a 5k, as I keep reaching about. 4.8 k before my redness and overheating get too extreme to carry on!

Thank you....might I suggest you give your local Parkrun a try, I am so glad I did πŸ™‚ I look like I will combust, I am that red faced!!!

Ha ha, totally get the issue with early runs! But it isn't a problem, it is a challenge that we have overcome... You have conquered the biggest fear: getting off that couch and proving to yourself that you can do it. Congratulations!
