Well finished week 8 today and a lovely run with a smile all the way round but runs 1 and 2 were so hard and my new shoes seemed to be sapping the energy from my legs. Thank goodness it went well today as beginning to think I had made a big mistake. I think the cushioning in the shoes is just so much more than I have been used to and they didn't seem to flex properly so my feet were kind of slapping on the ground. Really felt like running through porridge at times. Maybe they are worn in a bit now or I am just getting used to them. Have gone from moping around thinking how much I could recoup on eBay to looking forward to graduation week. Hope others are having more instant success with their new shoes.👟

That doesn't sound right. Which shoes have you got?

When you get new shoes there can be a period of adjustment. I like to alternate between the pairs for a few runs to let them settle down.
However, gait analysis is not infallible and if they continue to feel wrong it may be worth going back to the shop for a review.
Into your last week of the programme now!

Ully's right, it can often take a couple of runs to get used to new shoes. I'm sure your knees and ankles will thank you for the added cushioning in the long term.
Good luck with w9
"Running through porridge" made me chuckle. I know that feeling and worse, when it feels like there's syrup stirred in. On good days I tiptoe over cornflakes!
