Week 1 run 2 (5k-10k bridge)

Whew! Tempo running is much harder than my normal running speed. Today I did a 10 minute jog, 3 minute tempo run, and 10 minute jog (of which I walked the first 2). To be fair, my ENTIRE 3 minute tempo run just happened to be on a long and steep hill. Yikes! Also, I think I may have been doing more of a fast run than a tempo run. Either way, I'm tired, but mostly pleased. My next run is a 30-minute steady jog. No biggie. P.S. Perfect running weather today! How awesome!

It's a whole new world, isn't it! I'm still trying to learn to differentiate between "jog", "steady run", "tempo run" and "fast run", and to be honest, I don't think I have the range in my repertoire yet! But I'm enjoying the challenge and hope they will come (and get easier) with time. They definitely help with stamina, endurance and overall speed though. Good luck with it!

Thank you! I have a feeling that I don't have those speeds either. I'm just muddling through anyway.

Hi Both, this sounds intriguing, what are you doing and is there an app for it? I graduated today and will maybe ready for a new challenge in the coming months once I am comfortable with a steady 30 minute slog (opps sorry jog!)

Hi Deb, I am doing the 5k to 10k bridge program. There is an app for it. I use Active's 5k to 10k app. It's similar to the couch to 5k program in some ways, but has you doing speed work. Congratulations on your graduation by the way!

What a brilliant photo !

I never quite got the jargon too , I just get out and go and hope for the best ! I do the C25k + Speed podcast now and again, I like that one xxx

Thanks Poppy! That's exactly what I will be doing (getting out and hoping for the best). My goal is to get faster at 5ks and finish a few 10ks. It feels good to start training harder again.
