Time for a new challenge

Hello everyone! I'm back again. I'm about a month shy of my 1-year runniversary today. I've kind of fallen into a rut where I haven't been challenging myself enough lately. So I decided that has to end. This girl is starting speed work! I downloaded the 5k to 10k bridge and keyed up the first run today. According to the program, it should have been a 20-minute steady run with no speed work, but I decided to try some fast running anyway. I just wanted to find a faster/longer stride that felt natural and see how long I could keep it up. I only managed about 4 minutes. Then I dragged the rest of the 16 minutes. I was discouraged at first, but then I remembered 1 year ago how wrecked I felt after 1 minute of jogging. I made it this far and I can make the next level too. I got this! Next stop faster 5k and acceptable 10k!

Good for you! We'll reach our goals together then.

Well done. I went off the rails too and am also doing speed now. I've started Hiit as the shorter time spent training fits in better with my life and is kinder to my arthritis. A new challenge has rekindled my enjoyment for running and I hope it does for you too :)

Hi I'm just coming up to a year too, and felt I wasn't progressing. I've been dithering for a while and yesterday went to a running club. It's really motivating to run with others, which I've never done apart from Parkrun. So like you now I'm definately going to bridge that 5 to 10k . Good luck, let us know how it goes. Your going to be great !
