Ok so I did my graduation run yesterday, I haven't had any post run maladies over the last 9 weeks barring the odd niggle but today I ACHE!! My knee feels a bit wrong, I have back ache, my groin aches, I feel like I'm falling to bits and I have a 5K tomorrow. Anyone else find this after their final runs? Can I go back to bed now?

Oh yes. Don't underestimate how hard it is for your body to be doing what you are doing now. My first 5K was my post-graduate run at ~40 minutes. I then decided to do a 5K every other day and for the first week or so I was _shattered_.

I seem to recall you are pretty nippy, maybe slow it down a bit, just for a month or so. Don't forget that during the c25k plan you have adrenaline pushing you, that will wear off and it might get a little bit harder to perform the same.

I know a bunch of us consolidate for a month or so, just doing lots of regular, slow and steady runs (e.g. my 5K every other day) just to let the body get used to, and fully establish the habit of running.

Do ignore any aches/soreness for an hour or so after the run, sever pain should always signal a STOP immediately. Aching the day after? Welcome to the world of running :-)

Anyway, congrats on the graduation - it's a great feeling isn't it.

You have a 5k event tomorrow? Do lots of stretching today, before the race and after the race. Epsom salt baths. Hopefully it's a passing thing.

Do some stretching and see how you feel tomorrow, rest is really important as you increase your distance.....
