The dangers of self diagnosis!

Hi all. I've had my physio appointment this morning and it looks like I don't have plantar fascilitis - phew! He thinks my feet are just suffering from "overload" - I suspect this is a polite way of saying I'm fat and unfit! I probably just need arch supports in all my shoes, not just when running so my worst foot is taped up with a temporary support and I am to carry on as normal so we can assess the effectiveness in a weeks time. The reason for my title is that I decided I had plantar fascilitis and started using a heel lift insert in my shoes which may have actually made things slightly worse so please everyone get your pains checked out!

The good news it that I can go out with Laura later and see how I get on, it's OK for me to push through discomfort but I must stop if I experience severe pain. I am working from home today so plan to pick my moment - I need a window without thunder & lightening and when some of the lakes which formed overnight have subsided a little. My drive to the physio this morning was hairy to say the least!

Wish me luck!

That's great news, but I would stop just after 'discomfort' and way before 'severe pain'.

Good luck with Laura, I know she has been missing you :-).

Glad to hear that it's not plantar fascilitis!

I have to admit i'm guilty of visiting "webMD" and similar sites WAY to often!

Just go nice and slowly, and run every third day if necessary, to give yourself adequate recovery time. Spending time barefoot in the house,or the lawn, helps your feet. They like being in touch with the floor. There are loads of exercises for your feet. Back to Google 😊

That means I would have to hoover up the dog hairs!!!

a bit of dog hair's not going to hurt!...

Just as well or I would be in big trouble!!

I don't have a dog but I'd rather have cat hair and be happy than have no cat hair and no cat!

And yet my husband has a very shiny head and yet I have never found his hair scattered around the house 😀😀

Sounds like my house too - i'm surprised my pooch is not bald the amount she molts! :)

I just did that! 😁 it's not even my dog! My neighbour's darned hairy beast, and he just had a hair cut 😕

Glad to hear you can carry on. Dr Google is a dangerous person - and asking our opinion is pretty risky too!

Good luck

Good luck! Maybe to give your foot a rest you could have a swim in the 'temporary' lakes instead? Just a suggestion 😂

Not sure if the locals would survive the sight of me in a swimsuit :-)

You do know that those 'ideas' give you a fantastic cardio workout!

Interesting given I also think I have it and have yet to visit a physio (going tomorrow). Really good news for you, good luck with your return to Laura! I hop I get equally good news!

What a tactful chap! Maybe cushioned heel support..I find them helpful. Hope you get out later...go steady☺

Excellent news oldpossum, PF is really nasty, so you've had a lucky escape. Hope the taping works for you

Good luck (you've probably done it by now but I didn't have time to wade through all the spam yesterday).

How did it go, Possum?

OldPossum profile image
OldPossum in reply to boptillyoudrop49

Went ok. My feet survived and I turned the colour of beetroot. It's the first time I've been out mid morning and it was a killer ! I was even slower - didn't even think that was possible but I still going. Thanks for asking. 😀😀

Envy anyone whose face doesn't change colour in these temperatures. How do they do it?! It was already 27 degrees at 6:30 this morning but I couldn't run any earlier than that. Glad to hear the feet held up. It is so good to know what the problem is and see a way forward.
