Well, it has taken me a week and a half to complete week nine. No f... Runs, but having been a model student (apart from a half term wobble) I suddenly hit a patch when work took over. Did W9R2 on Saturday. All good. Managed 4.5K in the 30 mins. Then, Monday, Tues home late. Rain, thunder, lightening. Got flaky. So, tonight came home early feeling determined. Clouds come over. Stern talk to self. I always wanted to do Grad run outside. But graduating is not an end event, it is a beginning? So what if you do it on treadmill and get out next time? So, off I went. Knew that I normally run further outside even tho is technically harder (other people have alluded to this. I think it is something to do with the fresh air and being outside feeling just more natural, plus sense of actually making real time progress). Anyway, realised that on treadmill would need to crank it up to match Sat run. By 15 mins, I realised that I was struggling. Not the legs, but chest. Have suddenly got hay fever and should have had a puff on the inhaler. Plowed on. Was not enjoying it, but had that gritty feeling. Got to thirty mins and 4.7k and really, really needed to slow down, so hit button really hard. Sadly, was speed up, not down . Oh dear. Did warm down walk and limped off with hamstrings howling. What an idiot! Have been stretching for England and hoping for the best. Moral is; take the advice here and don't be stupidly self competitive. Anyway, am going to stop beating myself up, keep stretching, have a congratulatory glass. Just wanted to say, thanks for all the support and advice here. I never believed nine weeks ago that I could do this, and I truly believe that the people on this forum have helped to get me here. Cheers!

Thank you so much Poppy P. You have been there for me (and everyone, it seems) from the beginning. You are a truly great mentor and must be behind so many people's success stories. The aches are getting better already. Stretching all the time. Will see tomorrow. God bless!

Well done and congratulations. Coming from wet Wales I would advise you giving running in the rain a go, it is great and really invigorating. I'm not the only mad one who feels this way, over the winter it was discussed a bit on this site with a few of us enjoying it. You, the elements, nature- all very real I think the term is these days! Anyway try it!

Thank you! Well I know what you are saying and I get it. Problem was, had just had expensive colour, cut and blow dry job, which normally will take me through for at least a week. OMG, that sounds so shallow compared to the running agenda, but sadly true!

Well done Sub!

Rest up and you'll soon be good to go. You can spend the down time planning your return and the all-important post graduate run. Make it outdoors though. Find a lovely flat, scenic route and have a delicious steady jog 😊

Yeah well done to you from another just graduated person - I think we must have been pounding it out, inside and out at the same time from somewhere in the country! I hope your injury sorts itself pronto too :) And you're right, the people on here have been so supportive it's been brilliant! :0

A little tip about hamstrings - they can be caused by being overstretched so further stretching can exacerbate the problem
