Running clothing for women.

One run away from graduation, and already I have a drawer of running clothes.  But I have some questions and ideas about underwear.

Why doesn't anyone (well maybe they do?) make a running bra that either has loops to fit a heart band or some other way to measure heart rate?

Do you buy special 'wicking' pants? If you do, do they work ok with stick on towels like tena lady?  Or shall I just stick to my comfy cotton baggy ones?  ;-) If you do buy 'running underpants' WHY are they so damn expensive?  Any recommendations.

Hi, Yep, the right knickers do make a difference. I looked at the specialist running ones and nearly fainted at the price, I mean are they interwoven with gold or something, Jeeze! I wear Tesco Lycra knickers (2pack for a fiver) and Carefree panti liners. The knickers don't show under my leggings and don't give me a wedgie.  They wash well and dry quickly. Re: bras I love my Shockabsorbers (some bargains on Amazon if you know your size). Good luck with your Graduation Run 👏

Hi Lilly, I've never even looked at fancy running pants, scared of the price.  I have your basic Bridget Jones - big ones though, none of this thong/short/lacy stuff, cotton that fit well and I have no issue with liners or pads with them - I don't care about VPL either, comfort is the key 😄

Bra's , I've got a good tesco one (compression) , and they do bigger sizes, I've also got one from bravissimo, (wired and compartment) neither have anything I can see for attaching something, I was planning to try a shockabsorber for my next one

Hope you have  a great graduation run 😄👏

I usually run "Commando" except I have some shorts which give me terrible camel's toe if I don't wear something underneath... and I just stuff a wodge of loo roll inside my shorts/leggings if I think I've drunk too much tea before my run! TMI? Sorry!

I just wore normal underwear for ages, but tightened the straps on my bras so they held firm, then upgraded to running bras, but even now I still wear normal pants. I've got about 20 years experience of cycling in normal clothes - normal jeans etc, so I was slow to make concessions for a running kit. I think a running bra makes a lot of difference though, even for someone like me who's a smallish size (B cup). I just got a pack of 2 cheap Lonsdale ones from sports direct, which have worked perfectly well for several months. I think it all depends on personal comfort needs though - we're all different shapes, sizes, ages... I don't use a heart band, just take phone & keys in a running belt. But that's a good point that the bra and heart band could be combined...

I bought some pants from Decathlon in the sale - I think they were £1.29. Really pleased with them.

Sports Direct do the 'Shock Absorber Absorber Heart Rate Monitoring Bra' ... It appears you attach the HRM to the front strap of the bra ... Black, in quite a few sizes and not too pricey at £19 (+p&p).

Wow, yet another whole area of life I didn't know existed.  Unfortunately (according to bravissimo) I am a 40 H.  Can't find any 'wearable tech' that goes round me.  Maybe in a year or so when I lose weight.
