I did it!!! 5K

Today, I'm proud to say I completed my first running 5K.  It wasn't without its difficulties, I had to stop to walk abotu 3 different times for a few minutes each, once to fight with my phone and others cause I was just so out of breath. Normally training on a treadmill at a 13 minute mile pace, I was expecting to come in about 40 minutes. Considering this course was actually 3.29K, I would ahve been happy with 41.  Well, when I came in for the final stretch and was able to see the finish line, it was under 38 minutes!  I Splined and finished at 37 minutes 56 seconds!  Now I"m kicking myself for stopping to walk all those times, to think my time could have been so much better!

But it's done!  WOOHOO.

Now taking a few days for my legs to heal (my calves took a brunt of it, I'm not looking forward to walking tomorrow), but then it's back on the wagon to train. Besides, I have my sights set on another 5K for June 12th.

Thanks for the inspiration everyone!

Taking breaks to walk doesn't necessarily make you slower. You recover more which makes you able to run faster. I did a run today with deliberate breaks (5 min run, 3 min walk) and when I look at my splits I can't see where I walked. Well done on your time, very respectable!
