Well, the event has finally arrived. My Parkrace is on Sunday. (Over here in the US we just call it a 5K , but after being on the boards I've learned to call lit a Parkrace).
I've noticed over time that when I begin a run, I feel pain in my shins. I notice it when I tried to jump rope with my daughter as well. I feel it most runs, but after a few minutes it seems to go away.
Last night, I felt this pain again, and I pushed myself further than I have by completing 31 minutes. Afterwards, I could feel the aching in my shins so I iced them. This morning, other than tightening in my calves my legs seem okay.
I'm so afraid of injuring myself before my Parkrace, and I ALSO an afraid I'll injure myself AT the Parkrace.
Any words of advice? Anyone else experience this shin pain? It's not severe, but enough to notice for sure, and always at the beginning of the run.
