I have an Eliptical trainer thingie, bought some time back but hardly ever used. Is there a way I can sensibly use it to suppliment my running?

Yes. You can use the elliptical on non-run days as cross-training. I am not a huge fan of them, personally, but they are ideal for supporting your cardio gains without the impact on your joints, bones etc, so well suited for C25k - your stamina tends to improve a lot faster than your legs.
Usual rules re sensible approach apply - don't jump in from doing none to doing an hour on all of your rest days, build up gradually.
