My first 5K Sunday...

Hello everyone. I'm on week 8, Day 1, and my first 5 K is Sunday. So I will have to make do without being a graduate.. (AHHH!)  Last night, I was supposed to do Week 8 Day 1, but got completely lazy and decided to be a couch potato with my husband. Now I'm panicking that I slacked off on race week... I don't know if I should run tonight and tomorrow, and then Friday, taking Saturday off? Or if I should just run tonight, Thursday and take 2 days off before the race? I've never done this before and I just want to plan it out the right way.

Any words of advice, encouragement are requested and welcomed! I'm freaking out a bit here.

Thanks

Hi,

I would suggest you run tonight then Thursday night and then go for your 5k on Sunday.

Running without leaving a rest day in between at this early stage of your running career is inviting injury.

Stop panicking and you will be fine,  just take your time.

If you haven't been running 5k yet then this break may do you some good, some of my best runs have been after 4-5 days break.  Whatever you decide to do, take the 5k slowly by pacing yourself, save your strength for the last mile as you may find yourself being pulled along by the other runners, and good luck!
