I set out feeling good and wanting a good run under my belt to boost my confidence for the looming 5K on Sunday, but today certainly wasn't that. First time back out in the big outdoors since a 3 week running hiatus and the hill and the headwind (rude of them to coincide) really took it out of me.
Technically it was W8R1 but I was aiming for anything past 30 minutes, having done that fairly easily (indoors) on Monday. Barely managed the scheduled 28 and although it was my longest run yet in terms of distance (I only track the outdoor ones), it was also by far the slowest.
And for the first time my left ankle and right knee are protesting the abuse - mildly, but really... now?
On the plus side, it was a beautiful Spring afternoon and the local runners all greeted me with smiles and cheerful comments as they sped past me.
So, disheartened but not deterred... tomorrow's another (rest) day and Friday I'll try again

We all get crap runs. I struggled today with the wind being how it was. Don't worry about distance, just worry about getting through the time. I think distance comes later anyway. And hey, you still beat everyone still sat on the couch at home! You went outside and you moved around for 28 minutes. That's a big deal!
As for your complaints, maybe try RICE-ing it tonight and a bath maybe to soothe?
Thanks only reason I'm focusing on distance is I'm doing a 5K for the Stroke Association on Sunday! Had a bath after my run and the achy bits seem to be quietening down.
