But better today day 3

Was not so stiff this morning still didn't manage to do the full minutes running when instructed by Laura but still started to run every time she told me to. I did manage to do the full minute on first, last and one in the middle. Today I ran along the riverside which was much nicer then on the streets. Still pleased with my efforts

Well done! I am a newbie too but can I suggest that maybe you need to slow down? That seems to be the one resounding piece of advice from the experts is to slow down.

The mistake I made was trying to run as fast as I can and the first few weeks were awful - gasping for breath, pain everywhere :-). Then I followed the advice of 'run slowly enough so that you can breath in for 2 or 3 steps and out for 2 or 3 steps' and 'run slowly enough so you can have a stilted conversation' and it has made things so much better.

I thought I would be cheating as I still felt like I could do a bit more at the end of each run but it really does build endurance. I don't know which week you are on, but I am on week 5 - the last run (day 2) was 2 lots of 8 minute running - and it was fine. Week 1 I thought I was dying :-).

I also found it _much_ easier once I concentrated on my form (upright posture, lots of small quick steps, feet landing under the hip etc.).

You can do it - keep going, but maybe slow down a bit.

yep, slow is the way to finish the sessions. It's all about finishing so go steady.

Thank you for your encouragement. I don't think I was running to fast but I will slow down. I'm still at the stage that I think everyone is looking at me and feel embarrassed....but I will keep going. I also will take your advice on the breathing as I think that will help...thanks again and good luck to you

I ran in the dark due to embarrassment when I started but the daylight is catching me up! I'm definitely less worried about being seen now but I still run early in the morning if I can!

Good luck with the programme, keep going, it's so rewarding when you manage to complete a week successfully.

Well done Rundee. Keep up the good work. :)

Are you listening to Laura on the podcast which has music playing whilst you run?

I understand that using the app doesn't give you music to run to, which will be helpful. It takes your mind off your breathing, legs and gives you something to think about. Suggest you look into this and download the podcasts if this is the case. :)
