Wk 5, run 3

I never would have believed that I would get this far!! I took my daughter to a junior Park run last month, and felt guilty as saw other parents running with their children and I couldn't even do the warm up. Well, six weeks later I am jogging (albeit slowly) for 20 mins without stopping and my daughter is coming out with me, and loving it! I can't wait to try the 5km Park run in a few weeks hopefully.

Slow is best! If you go nice and steady you will have enough puff to complete the sessions, and avoid injury

Have a good time 😊

That's brilliant. Well done. I bet your daughter is over the moon you can do it together.

Well done! The 20-minuter is a big achievement. It's great that you're getting out there with your daughter, too, how lovely! =]

Thanks. I still darent do her 2km run with her as she is too fast for me! But I am hoping to get her trained for 5km at my pace which would be good for us both.

This is just brilliant! Good for you. I'm sure your daughter is pleased as punch to have mum running with her. I'm planning to do the same with my 9 year old, some park runs after graduation to get both of us ready for race for life. keep it up, you're doing great x

Thanks! She is my inspiration as she has bundles of energy and I want to enjoy doing active things with her. Race for life would be a great goal to aim for! 😊 x

It's June time, so absolutely do-able! I'm only just about to start Wk8 of C25K so plenty of time (she says...;)) My daughter loves gymnastics, karate and the outdoors but has spent more time than she and I would like vegging indoors over winter and she's got a good appetite, so I want to make sure she gets enough exercise. This is for both of us really - we both need to work to keep up with the super fit, footie mad boys in our house! Have fun with your daughter, she sounds like a lively bundle of fun :) x

My 24 year old son said yesterday "I'm not easily embarrassed, but there's one thing I'm not going to do and that's go jogging with my mother". How they change! Put me in my place, but I can understand him!

Aww. My daughter is only 8 so she doesn't mind yet!

I'm working on it, but they don't do parkruns in Germany as they do in UK. And to be honest he really would thrash me - he walks faster than I run and you should see him hopping lightly up a mountain like a mountain goat! I do tell him that's because of my genes though!

Get him to do a parkrun with you, then compare the age related measure. You may be slower, but I bet you are close to or even better than him on that score!
