Hello 2016 Quest week four

I have finally managed to put the London to Paris virtual run up today. Things conspired against me recently on the tech front, but I am fighting back. Happy running to you all.

What the quest is:-

The quest takes six weeks. You can join any time within that six weeks.

The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

I ask that you will be a graduate or about to graduate to join the quest. The main reason I ask this is that while you are doing the program your plan is very structured so I wouldn't want the quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:-

To run three times a week

To slowly increase distance

To train for a specific race

To add In Stretch and strength exercises

As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.

Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.

So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put

I would like to join the quest, or count me in and then I would like to. ..............

Your name will then be added to the top post and every week your name will be in the quest until the end.

At the end, only for those that would like to, we each put out longest run of the quest and it is then marked on a virtual run we are doing London to Paris

I'm back into the swing of things. I did parkrun on Saturday and I'm still sore. Hehe it makes me run so fast, I really must do it more often. Also I am doing my squats, push-ups and sit-ups. I'm being accountable for those on the push yourself forum on HU, so thats helping. started my swim training for my swimathon in March. So all In All pleased with the last week. A balanced training week.

It was an OK week.

No swimming.... but my goal has an added poignancy as the Bridge I want to get to on my virtual swim was the cause of a canoeist's death in a terrible accident last Sunday.

Achieved 10,000 steps on 2 days not 3 - I tell you, I'm like a puppet whose strings have been cut the moment my purple friend buzzes. This one is tough!

Had just one little run but it was, as per goal, in an old haunt - have posted on the forum about that one, pleased with myself for doing it. Even more importantly I got out with the family for walks - to see starlings murmurating, and to an iconic Peak District spot we have never been before, so I definitely feel I have held to the spirit.

Weight still over but still eating up from Christmas steadily.

The fatigue was very bad, even before Back To School which always disagrees with me physically. So I am pleased with my achievements but hope to do better this week.

Hang In there I know what you mean. My stress levels have been through the roof recently. My post is only positive because I have moderated my expectations for myself. My biggest achievements last week were 2 slow 5km walks with my hubby. Your doing great be kind to yourself. X.

Only 2 runs last week :-(

Tuesday I used the Speed podcast for the first time in ages and it felt good. Thursday is my usual other weekday run day, but I just felt wiped out so I skipped it. Friday I felt better though so I did Stepping Stone.

Usually I do a longish run on Saturday morning but I had stuff on so original plan was Sunday afternoon, but instead I fell asleep on the settee...

I suspect I must be fighting off a virus (throat a bit scratchy), so will take it gently this week, but hope to be well enough to get out !

Hi. I haven't commented for a few weeks due to a week off running before Christmas and then too much going on. I am still struggling to fit in three runs per week because of the dry weather rarely coinciding with suitable free time and when it's wet it tends to be really wet, so that's a no from me!

I managed one short canal run at lunch time last week, but it wasn't a great route and I will go back to my normal canal run next time. Did manage 10k in the dusk yesterday though and was very pleased as the changed route was a lot of uphill/downhill and whilst I didn't break any time records I managed to run non-stop. I recently had to add a few walking breaks on uphill stretches (although often due to the terrain in general), so it was nice to see that I can still do it without having to walk. Next weekend's long run has to go further to get me back on track for half marathon training and then I will build in a walking break every 5km for water/shotblocks.

We have a new fitness class at work (our previous coach left at Christmas) and it was very hard this morning. All based on different kind of squat movements and my legs are very sore now. Maybe a good thing that it looks like it's going to pour again most of tomorrow as my legs need a rest!

Thanks, as ever, for organising this RFC. I'm back running again now the pesky pulled muscle in my side is on the mend. Did my first 5k of the new year yesterday as well as a 4K earlier in the week. I think I'll give the push up challenge a miss for a while -don't want to pull that muscle twice!! Planning to run 3 times this week -a w1 as intervals, a Stamina and a 5k, all being well -need to get my fitness back to I can go back to doing Parkrun (the local one has moved venue for the winter and the new course is sooo hilly Its scary!)

Not a bad week all in all. Did go to my jog scotland group on Wednesday and we were doing hill work. Quite enjoyed that although the very last hill I was running much slower than I could walk it! Stamina needs more work. Managed a 6.5k on Friday but then didn't do my planned run on Sunday because it was bucketing down. Two yoga classes and a fair bit of walking. Hope to get three runs in this week and got off to a good start tonight running over 9k with Fitfor60. Really enjoyed it :)

Thank you RFC for putting this up again xxx

I managed the Speed podcast last week, I am on the IC at the moment . I think I mustve pulled/ strained something in my left leg so I didnt risk any more running . I have been walking to work ( 5k ) every day ( Mon- Fri ) and am hoping to get out this week ( leg permitting ! )

Good luck to all fellow questers and soothing vibes to all others on the IC, another day closer to recovery xxx

What a week! I've only been able to glance at your posts, but it looks like you fellow questers are making a great start to the year!

I managed all of my goals this week, including 10 minutes of strength and two bouts of dragging my kids around the neighborhood/park on a sled.

Runs: 5.5, 5, 5k

Walks: 2.5, 2.5

Strength 10 minutes.

I was able to do three runs in my park in the end, one in very cold weather, one in snow, and one on ice. I enjoyed the novelty, my brain had to do a lot of different work, but this week I think I'll switch to road running or videos if the ice persists.

This week I have the same goals: two runs outdoors, one video (or more if needed), two 2.5k walks, one ten minute strength.

Forza!

Oops it's Wednesday . What happened to Mon and Tues? Anyway had good running week . 1x run with lissiebeth where we talked all the way, 1x jogscotland run which was hard- hill sprints, 1x long run on Pentland hills on the snow. The hill run was challenging but amazing. Had to be hauled out of some boggy/ muddy stuff when one of my legs sunk up past my knee. Couldn't stop laughing.

Thanks for organising this Rfc. I have managed 3 runs, 2 swims, 2 Aqua classes and a set of weights this week. Distances so so and not able to get to parkrun this week because of other commitments, longest run 4.6k.

I have decided to stop any attempt at speeding up and go for distance. It's what I'm good at and what I enjoy. Long slow runs for the next few weeks while I'm still in Cambridge. There are so many places I want to see, most of them start about 2 KM from my house, so that means 4 KM plus where ever I want to go if you know what I mean. I'm not sure how many slow KMs I can do in a week, but I was up to more than 30 before my virus, so I reckon I can do that again....Also I will walk if I get tired and stop to take pictures....going to enjoy my running....Next up Byrons Pool (if I can find it lol!)

Had a great week. One 6.5km on Sunday, two half hour runs. The last one felt like no effort and was one of my fastest, and still no shin pain. One hour yoga class and some home practise! Overall my furthest run in a week (15k), most calories & even fastest pace, although that was not intentional, I was trying to stay slow!

Charity 5k on Sunday :)

Quite a good week.

One 5k and a parkrun.

Also bought myself a hula hoop from Aldi. Can still do it even after last doing it at junior school. Not a boat friendly exercise though. Will try to do that on days I'm in the office.

Well done everyone and thanks rfc.
