Oh dear, it's true..

I hope I have worked out how to track exercise on my Fitbit one, and excitedly looked up my stats. 37 minutes including a five minute warm up to cover 4.6k which I felt wasn't too bad having eaten instead of run for most of the past fortnight. However, when I looked at the pace rate, my warm up was considerably quicker than the paces for running!! Now I know that can't be entirely true because I definitely "take off" when I start runnin. I haven't calibrated my running pace, or, come to that my walking stride so I suppose it is working off averages for old trouts of my height?

Mind you, first run for nearly a fortnight as I've been away but I was reading all your posts and thought, I really must get off my backside. Despite unimpressive statistics, I feel really good. And in any event, it's a baseline to work from

Phew!

Well done for getting back to it. It can be very frustrating looking at the figures. Map my run said I done a km in 4 something minutes today. That's just not possible even if I was only running 1K, the rest were between 6 and 7 mins.

I wonder if I should invest in a more sophisticated device. But then I think just comparing progress on this Fitbit one day by day will give a good enough measure of improvement

Don't be depressed by statistics. I track all my runs with runkeeper and am a bit of statistics nut, but sometimes its nice to leave everything at home and just go for a run unaided by any gadgets!

The running motion uses up more energy than brisk walking, and to be honest, if you were to walk that whole distance, you probably wouldn't keep up the brisk pace from your warm up for the whole way, so it doesn't really matter whether your warm up is slower/faster. In fact fast warm ups are supposed to prepare us better sometimes!

The nice thing about using a fitbit is you can make a whole log of all your activities and see it gradually building, which is rewarding in the long run. Runkeeper tells me I've run 164km since August. That seems insane to me!

Oh that sounds much better! I can't leave my gadgets at home, I just haven't got it in me!! I was mortified to find my Fitbit had run down the other day, according to it I had not moved a muscle for two days, but still managed to use some calories, so I was relieved to find I hadn't died! Then the lovely LAURA packed up on me 5 minutes before the end, eek! Thank goodness for those old fangled gadgets called wristwatches! but my goodness in the silence that followed, my own panting and pounding of feet! What a racket! First target: run QUIETLY!

Like you, I like looking over what I have done. I hope Sunday's run will show some improvements!
