Update on throbbing head, stomach cramps, etc.

Did W7R2 this morning. Tried to stay relaxed and stress free and creep along at 3.5mph on the treadmill. Result was no headache and so far no cramps (or other unmentionable side effects). Had to LOL when my internet research about 'runner's trots' said it was often a problem for elite athletes because of extreme stress on the body. Hadn't realised I was an elite athlete on Week 7!

I used to get headaches + feel sick when I ran too fast (before I started c25k and it was what caused me in general to hate running).

Since c25k and learning to pace myself, I don't experience it.

It sounds like you might have had a bug, but you mind find taking slow eases off the symptoms. I think you might be pushing out of your aerobic threshold- thats what makes me feel sick particularly- and you don't have to be an elite athlete to push yourself to YOUR extremes if you see what I mean!

Perhaps slow your pace and gradually increase it as you feel ready?

Re-reading that again- 3.5mph sounds like you are taking it slow already so maybe this is superfluous advice but I think you have the right idea! Maybe it was a combination of going too fast + having a bug that set you off?

well good luck anyway and I hope the horrible side effects leave you alone soon so you can enjoy your runs!

Thanks for the advice - hopefully the increase of only three minutes next week won't be such a shock to the system!

I think you might be over it, but if you're running in the morning I think it can sort of kick your digestive system into gear a bit too efficiently! Try maybe getting up a bit earlier so your body's fully awake when you start running, and for goodness sake eat first, even if it's just a handful of Brazil nuts.
