Hi first time writing here.

I have decided to look in go changing careers which requires me to be able to pass a bleep test to at least level 5. So far I totally cannot do it! I'm hoping if I start slow on c25k this will help me. I've just completed week 2 day one. I only have 8 days to go until my bleep test time is running out :-/ any advice would be a great help.

Carry on running slowly and steadily. Get plenty of sleep and eat healthily. There's not much time to get totally fit but you can only do so much in the time available.

Good luck. Keep going!

Believing in yourself is half the battle won. Keep up the programme and stay healthy (sleep, food and positivity) until the big day. Well done for taking up the challenge - are you going to continue afterwards?

Hey, thanks for the reply. I'm looking to continue after. I completed the shine at night walk 26.2 miles in September and from there I signed up to run a half marathon In April 2016 which was probably a silly move as I can't run more than 3 minutes at a time and time is ticking lol

A half marathon? Oof :) If you can walk 26 miles you're in good shape, though. You'll be surprised how fast you will progress on C25K - it's a real miracle worker. Keep us posted!

I have to complete the bleep test too in a week or so. I have taken it once and lost my nerve and pulled out---I just felt intimidated by it. All those bleeps :)

This is because I can hardly believe I am running and I just need to drill into myself that I can do it.

Don't worry lots of people don't pass it first time and at least we have the experience of doing it once.

It is nice to hear that someone else is doing it.

I think the couch to 5k is excellent practice for it and the forum here is very encouraging.

I think just keep to the program and you will make progress. Like others have said get plenty of rest and eat healthily.

On the day just keep telling yourself you can do it. If I get tired I am going to keep telling myself--"Do one more lap".

Good luck with it----I will think of you doing it and will look out for your posts on it.

Hi there,

I failed too---I took it on Saturday. I'm sorry to hear that you did not pass----level 5 is very good to get too. It is a stressful thing and I just seem to run out of steam in the middle of it. It's kind of a mental battle.

I will take it again in about a month.

Do you get a chance to take it again? I hope you do because you will pass it for sure next time. :)

Over the next month I am running about 3/4 times a week---2 runs with intervals. One easy run and one run with a few quicker bits--but not intervals. I am also including some leg strength exercises--like step ups and squats. The trick is to not do too much so I get injured or get a cold etc.

I just have to pass it.---it is my dream to get the role.

Good luck to you
