Feeling inspired after the weekends efforts at the GSR. Felt quite strange this morning running on my own again at 6 a.m. along Cowes seafront. Don't know quite what happened but without really aiming for it i did a pb for 5K of 28'58". Back home now having a nice bowl of porridge before work :)

I was out at the crack of stupid o'clock too, walking the dog. Zzzzzzzz

At least you'll be ready to start your day, refreshed and replete with porridge. Nowt like porridge for setting you up for the day.

Congrats on the PB!!!

Love going out early in the morning. Nice and peaceful along the seafront. A few other joggers, dog walkers and ship spotters . Best time of the day for me. Not sure i'll be lowering that time again anytime soon. I'd like to do a 10k under an hour. Thats my next target, well apart from finishing the Gosport half with ali and boz in 3 weeks.

Porridge - the fuel of champions ha ha ! :-)

Hey, Well done Paul , that's fab ! It has been said on here that once you do 10ks and over , your 5k time does tend to get faster . Still waiting for it to happen to me though ha ha ! Hey ho !

Oh you've got a HM in 3 weeks ? Wow, that will be amazing , Good Luck ! :-) xxx

Definitely Poppy!. Always have my porridge in the morning. Not sure i'll ever be a champion tho haha. Well yes i suppose the logic is that if you can run 10k then 5k should be easier and faster.

Yes HM is 2 weeks on sunday. Have to say i'm a bit nervous. Aliboo and Boz will get me through it hopefully. Going to try and run 12 miles on sunday. Will be a slow 12 miles tho. I'll be happy just to get round in Gosport to be honest xx

i reckon you'll do better than me at Gosport!! ! we'll definitely be on go slow that day but can only give it our best shot! let me know about Sunday for training run, maybe 11miles not 12 tho!! :)

Yes Ali, i'm thinking 7 min/km will do us in Gosport. Should be ok at that pace. We'll finish it, don't worry. Think of the goody bag :) xx I'm up for sunday. We'll do 11 and see how it feels. Confidence wise i'll be more happy the nearer we get to 13.1 haha!

Slow is good! Don't knock it. Going to quick, doing too much too soon is not a good plan. Grow slowly, over time and you'll be mighty!

It'll definitely be slow MW. Thats how we ran the GSR. Slower than normal and then see what we had left at the end. Seemed to work as our last 4km were our fastest.

well done on the PB, great time :D often happens that way , expect the unexpected :)

Cheers Rob. Definitely. Some days you just feel good and can surprise yourself. Other days i feel uninspired haha.

Thanks mfam. Yes i am lucky to live here. It's great most days except when the wind is blowing up the Solent. On those days it is only great one way :D

Well done on the PB Paul, Gosport HM, there's no holding you back now well done, best of luck you, Ali & Boz with the training. I do think you will have much trouble with the HM, your pace was perfect at the GSR.

Cheers Frank. It was a impulse at the hovertravel terminal when i entered. Ali and boz had entered a few weeks ago and i said id see how the GSR went first. Anyway, we found out there were only 22 places left so i had to decide there and then or i was going to miss out. Think we will be ok. Feeling slightly nervous about it tho. :)

Lucky you running along the sea front what a treat! I was also out at 6.30 unfortunately not near the sea. Can't beat porridge when you get back. You were going at a pace too, well done you.

Thanks Nifty. I'm lucky for sure living here. I prefer to run in the morning. It's hard to motivate myself after a day at work. All i want to do in the evening is veg out haha.

Yes slow and steady, thats me and Ali!. Yes i saw the Winter Run advertised. We are hoping to do the Edinburgh run in Jan. As for Manchester, there is a group of us forming to do the Great Manchester Run, May 22nd. This is also my birthday so maybe a few drinks after :) . So far there are around 8 or 9 of us. It's Poppypugs home race too. Go on, you know you want to :D x
