Sheringham salty sea run & Graduation!

Staying in Sheringham for the weekend with the kids and other half for half term didn't get in the way! I have been awake since about six waiting for it to be light enough to get out and run.

The actual run was a bit tougher as most of the promenade is concrete and I wanted to go easy on my knees and there were lots slopes to negotiate. I seem to be in the habit of doing a fast (?!) first k and then slowing a bit for the subsequent ones, I think I should be aiming for the other way round.

My next goal is to keep to running three times a week - 5km in whatever time that takes (around 4 in 30 mins now), as well two 30 mins for a while just to consolidate....hoping to do a 10 k early summer....once I get through the Moonwalk which I have signed up for this week. New trainers needed I think!

Thanks to all for support, I was 'girl most likely to bunk pe' at school now I am waking up early to get my trainers on!

Congratulations on Graduating my last run is tomorrow. My after plan is similar to yours, actually I think it's the same I want to manage 5K in 30 minutes. I did the full MoonWalk (London) last year and will probably do it this year too. It's brilliant fun and this year is Carnival time!

Thanks both,

Must admit I am a bit nervous about the Moonwalk - my friends have done it before in Edinburgh, they vowed never again...3years later we are signed up for London....a lot flatter and less likely to rain ( I hope). How much training did you do?

I followed the plan they provided religiously and also walked 3 miles every lunchtime. I completed it in 7 hours and the 21st/22nd mile were my rock bottom. Luckily Hot Chocolate was being dished out at mile 22! Toilets are the biggest problem, not enough, long queues etc. It didn't rain in London which was a blessing. Afterwards although tired and my legs ached I had no injuries apart from wearing brand new wool socks which burnt my ankles, that was a tad painful but soon healed. Ooh and I lost a toenail but it has since grown back!

Thanks I think I can do that, I walk my dog every day so will build on that along with running and training walks I should be fine. Yes I can imagine that in the wee hours it will be cold and a hot chocolate will hit exactly the right spot!

Fantastic, big congratulations. Your plans for future runs sound just spot on. Have you considered Parkrun? If you can do 4k in 30 minutes you will be able to do the full 5k at Parkrun. That's where I was up to when I did my first Parkrun. Happy running!

Hi Mim, yes I have printed my bar code and will get round to that in the next week or so, I wanted to get the programme finished first. Everyone starts such good things about park run I am looking forward to doing it soon. T

Haha I was the same, esp if it was cross country! I was always trying to get my

Mum to write me a note to get out of it!! I think taking the first k slow is the key. My PB was when I did that, slow and steady wins the race as they say!
