I was chatting with Gary (at least I'm fairly sure it was Gary) a few weeks ago about my back problems - here's an X-ray taken a few years ago...

I'm sure that's given you a lot of pain over the years CG. Has the running helped?
All exercise helps IP, that's why I've always done something. I think running has helped, my Husband tells me I am much more upright, with better posture now. Actually, most of the time I don't have too much pain but I have a herniated disc too, when that goes it's bloomin' agony!
Keeping weight off is key I reckon Curly. My husband suffers from a HD and has had surgery for it, but he piles weight on and it "goes". He loses weight when he reaches crisis point but then piles it all back on when his back starts to get better. Absolute madness!
I'm sure keeping moving is the best thing, and will help you as you get older. You're going to be fitter and more mobile into old age, which is what we all want. Well, you'd think so wouldn't you.
That's why I've always been active MW, I can feel my back complaining on my long journeys, all that sitting in the car etc. I've lost quite a lot since I started running, I now weigh less than I did when I was 25. Don't want to lose any more, the "Madonna stringy chicken" look is not a good one..Did you see my post yesterday? My new osteo is a runner and said my lack of speed is down to my lack of mobility so I have some exercises specifically for that, hope they work!
Holy Moly! Ouch! Is all I can say.
Wow Curly !
Well done you for overcoming such adversity . That mustve given you a shedload of pain .
Youre made of strong stuff Missus ! xx
Ouch. As poppypug says you are made of strong stuff!
That's some bend! Glad to see the excercise works for you..
I'm hoping to get my wife to start c25k, she has sciatica caused by osteo arthritis at the base of the spine, and was in dreadful pain with it some years ago when first diagnosed, she panicked and thought she was dying, and I had to calm her down, good job I was at home at the time.
Anyway, recently she's been out with me, trailing behind, and keeping an eye on her, she's actually pretty good with her pace and what she can do.
So hoping she can benefit from running therapy to, and your an inspiration CG...😀
That is really interesting. Was it the hd that caused this or did you have it prior to the hd? Sorry, I'm just being nosey, you don't have to answer if you don't want to
Edit: didn't mean to sound flippant, sounds like it's given you all sorts of grief over the years.
I fell off a space hopper when I was 12, my father picked me up off the floor underneath the arms, I think that was the start of it. I was in agony and asked him to take me to hospital, his reply was "we've all got back pain in this family, now you've got it too" Thanks Dad.....A few years later my first boyfriend was a bit older than me, we were the same height at that time, but I grew because that's what girls of 15 do, he didn't... he absolutely hated that I was taller than him, so I think I stooped to counteract it. Also, I have hearing problems and he spoke very quietly so that increased the stooping!
Oh 'eck Curly. You've been through it eh. Least running helps you say. It helps my posture and back pain too.
