Welcome to Week 4

(27 September -8 November)

Week 4

another week under our belts.

What the quest is:-

The quest takes six weeks. You can join any time within that six weeks.

The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

I ask that you will be a graduate or about to graduate to join the quest. The main reason I ask this is that while you are doing the program your plan is very structured so I wouldn't want the quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:-

To run three times a week

To slowly increase distance

To train for a specific race

To add In Stretch and strength exercises

As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.

Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.

So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put

I would like to join the quest, or count me in and then I would like to. ..............

Your name will then be added to the top post and every week your name will be in the quest until the end.

At the end, only for those that would like to, we each put out longest run of the quest and it is then marked on a virtual run we are doing London to Paris

A strange sort of week for me. We went to Glossop for the funeral and were there for three days. I had done my long run before I went so I knew I had that one under my belt, I had also done a long speed walk. So I wasn't going to take my running stuff but in the last minute I stuffed them into my case. I was glad I did I got a lovely 4km in along the high street and round the back streets, it was nice running in a completely different place I realised I run relaxed enough to look around and enjoy it now. In the early days it was all about just being able to run. I need to sort myself out now because I have a hilly 5km event in less than 2 weeks and a 10km two weeks after that and I have eaten and drunk far too much over the last week. Even though I have done all my runs for last week I don't feel healthy at all.

Unlike RFC, I managed to forget my running shoes when I was setting off for a run. So this last week was a bit of a dead loss towards my goals as that was my only opportunity for running and there was no swimming or cycling. However, the good bits of the week arose from my running as I completed my little project of photographing all the companion stones (an art project in which 9 sculptures with poetry were placed as companions to 9 of the 18th century guide stoops dotted around the eastern Peak district) I found out about the stones as a result of being curious about one I spotted on White Edge back in February on my wonderful edge circuit. And it was this one that I went back to - 3rd time lucky in the end as I tried when I intended to run last week and then went for a walk with my husband yesterday after some serious map study and bagged it (along with more lovely deer watching). Sadly one elsewhere has gone missing (how????)

Morning everyone. Pretty good week for me on the activity front. Two runs of 7.25k and another of just over 5. I had hoped to do 10k yesterday but had friends coming over for lunch and had to stop at just over 7 to have enough time to get the food ready in time. Also had one yoga class. Problem for me has been a bit too much of the bevy so plan is to cut it out this week until the weekend when I have two celebrations to go to ... Pretty sure I will be imbibing at both!

Pretty hectic week, I did the 2 miler last Monday as previously stated, managed to get to 2.9 mile of the 5K last Wednesday. I attempted to go on Friday and Saturday but family commitments dictated otherwise (Saturday was even on way out of front door). Then managed to get out for a run yesterday Sunday. Very bumpy start I did not pick my feet up properly (warm up walk) took a bit of a tumble and felt a major fool, grazed elbow and knee ( can feel the ankle today and the knee a little) but went on to complete 3.83 miles took me an hour (yes really an hour) and run is well over the 5K so really pleased ( :) :) :).

May give running club a miss tonight to rest my ankle, and look at the stepping stone podcast for tomorrow or Wednesday.

Hope you are all well.

Hmmm , bit of a " Meh " week last week for me . I didn't go to Running Club as I had a sore calf and thought running on it may aggravate it so I gave it a miss. I do tend to err on the side of caution these days having learnt a valuable lesson with my dodgy hips earlier in the year .

I did Zumba on Wednesday which I really enjoyed, I find it a hard workout but you don't realise it that much because youre having so much fun doing it !

I had a little run yesterday in a beautiful park and calf feels perfectly fine today , so I am going to Running Club tomorrow and Zumba on Wednesday ,PLUS Cue dramatic music - I am taking part in a Cross Country event this Saturday which should be interesting ha ha !

I do love these Quests RFC , thank you for putting them up, its a place where you can maybe confess that you didn't do as much as what you planned to do , and for me that's like wiping the slate clean ,and saying all is not lost and I am going to do try and do my best to do what I planned this week. And of course you can list all your successes of the week too , so it is a really good place ! Sorry I am confusing myself a bit now Ha ha !

Sorry Im rambling ! Good luck to all fellow Questers, soothing vibes to all those on the IC, another day closer to recovery xxx

Pretty steady week for me, out for my usual runs. Definitely noticing that I feel a lot stronger generally and am finding the runs I do more comfortable. Far fewer aches these days I'vr noticed although a little achey in my right lower leg on Saturday, so may have an extra rest day to help ease it! Other than that, I am running to my target and plan to test run(!) a local parkrun course next week in preparation for the real thing! It will be nice to get a proper time.😀

Last week ended up being 2 runs not three, as I did some extra hours at work. So to make up I planned a long run on saturday and ended up doing a new distance PB - 13km up from previous of 12km ! Was really chuffed (though legs ached afterwards).

This week I'm on hol in Barcelona. Have brought my kit with me and am thinking that 2 runs will be possible. Maybe not distance records but at least some nice exploring of the city !

happy running everyone

I decided last week to do things differently, i.e. 4 runs in total, but the weekend run not as long as the one the previous week (that had been 15k). So I did a short slow recovery run, a run in the woods, a run with "hand made" intervals and then a 10k yesterday for my virtual Halloween run (looking forward to the medal in Nov!) whcih was also a new PB of 65:15 :-) . Altogether it was just short of 27k, so more or less the same overall distance as the previous week, but over 4 rather than 3 sessions.

Also managed to cycle to work on friday and go to the early pilates/stretch class that morning at work - it was painful, but also very good! Unfortunately I can't make this again for another three weeks; I think this is really very good for my muscles and complementary to the running.

Back to 3 runs this week and hoping to do 15k again on Sunday.

I managed three runs but didn't manage extending my long one due to pains in my thigh and my shin. As I've never had pains in these areas before and I've purposely cut DOWN on my distance the last few weeks, I'm thinking it's due to running on a different surface - concrete! So, 1x6K, 1x5K and 1x10K. I'll be back home at the end of this week and can't wait to go for a lovely long run on my usual forest turf!

Have a great week fellow questers.

Bit of a "non successful" (really should be using the f*** word) week for me.

Working 15 hrs a day Mon-Wed. Train from Essex to Liverpool Thurs plus 4 hrs boating. Then 12 hr boating days Fri -Sun. Then to top it all come down with manflu :(

This week isn't looking that much more promising.

These things are sent to try us. Onward & upward!!

Hello! This week I learned how to be flexible. It has been raining raining raining for a week! I thought I would only get two runs in, but late Friday afternoon was clear enough to permit a quick 25 minutes which I padded with 25 minutes of cardio exercise over the internet. I also saw the doctor and got a new asthma inhaler sorted.

Sunday my little girl told me she wanted to go running. My mind was selfishly screaming NO!, but it was just the way to warm up - 800m with a giggling, carefree five year old.

Here is my rundown: 5k, 3.5k, 6k.

Good luck to you all this week - I will be learning more about flexibility I'm afraid. Very busy schedule and it is still raining! I'm aiming for at least two runs, hoping for three, plus one exercise class or yoga session.

Not a brilliant week for me again, I'm afraid, but I did manage running tourism :) I got myself thoroughly lost in Stockholm. I wanted to go and run by the water but instead ended up running by big industrial building sites and through quite boring streets, so that was a bit disappointing. Then when we arrived at the most beautiful Japanese hotel and spa (yes, in Stockholm, don't know why we were there) we were working from 7am until 8pm so there was no daylight to run in beautiful pine forests :(

So better luck this week. I've been back to the chiropractor who is encouraging me to run and swim after 'adjusting' (ouch!) my pelvis and lower back again but I will take it gently at first. Happy running to all Questers and swift recovery to all those on the IC.

Not sure I haven't missed a week when I was travelling, but I'm home now. I picked up a bit of a knee injury on the way back, I had a few days off, I thought it best, but I saw my osteo today who says it's not serious and I can continue running! My intentions this week are to take it fairly easy still, travelling really knocks the stuffing out of me, but then I'm going to try for a longer run - maybe 12+K

Hi RFC. Have posted each week, but I am not on your list for this quest, could you add me please?

Gradually getting back into running after my nasty chest infection. 2 weeks with no running at all, 1st run collapsed in a coughing heap after 1.5k. 2nd run more or less ok, so hope I am back to normal now.

I am so sorry for the over sight, I have added your name. Hope your chest infection behaves itself.
