C25K+ shows I have made progress!

I have just attempted the stamina and speed podcasts this week for the first time, while I am deciding whether to move to a 10K plan. The stamina podcast was enjoyable and achievable, and I may try and use it at parkrun this weekend to keep me on track.

However, I really LOVED the speed podcast. I decided to try the same route that I did for the big Week 5 Run 3 session and what a difference a couple of months makes! I remember being so worried about that 20 minute long run so I deliberately chose a flat, steady route. It was so great to get home in one piece, even though I had to do more than a 5 minute walk at the end to get home. Now doing the same run with 'speed' shows me just how far I have come in such a short space of time. Not only did I manage the run but I had to extend it by quite some distance to ensure I still had a cool down walk at the end. My dreaded run has become my fun fast run. How cool is that?

Brilliant! I like the stamina and speed podcasts too, especially as now that the evenings are getting darker the speed one is relatively short so, for the moment at least, I just have time to fit it in when I get back from work! You sound to have progressed well anyway. I have yet to decide about a 10k plan too, but I'll get there some day! :-)

Sounds fab - well done. I still have not tried the stamina podcast. I really must!

It's amazing isn't it! Speed and co are very useful, so run them often to get them off pat. They will lead you in nicely to start heading towards 10k. You can run 5k so your next target is 6k, etc.

Increase slowly, no hurry

Have you seen? - There's a new forum on HU called Bridge to 10k for graduates who are moving on to the next stage. There aren't many posts there yet, but once that gets more use I'm sure there will be lots of good advice about how to extend distance and speed.

Oooo! Thanks for that info, Useit! Just what I need, and I look forward to seeing you over there! :) I like the stamina and speed podcasts. I just wish Laura would produce a B210k programme - I've tried 'Suzi', but I don't find her as motivating.

I didn't get on with those podcasts. First I couldn't hear what she was saying, then the music was crud copies of songs I had liked before. In the end I just ran along to either Stamina podcast or Audiofuel 160s and extended my runs by about half a k per week. Eventually 10k just happened!
