ME!! - 5K under 30 minutes -after 18 months!!!!

IT was pacer week today - I was determined to follow the 30 minute pacer for as long as I could and he also was determined that I should not flag at the end - so he was VERY supportive and ran a perfectly paced 5K. I did flag just a little in the last klm - more the spirit than anything else - it was HARD! and I would never had been able to do it on my own.

So - after 18 months since graduating C25K, I finally broke that 30 minute mark - with 29:18!!! :) Very pleased !! Not bad for an old man who turns 69 next month -- I never could run when I was younger!!!

Then - when I got home I realised that in all the excitement, I forgot to register my time with the timekeeper and still have the finish token in my pocket!!!! Fortunately I can see #99 ( me) is "unknown" so I think they will register the result after all.

Wow!! That is brilliant - well done indeed :-) you must be absolutely buzzing! Given that it's only 7am here, guessing you must be quite a long way away. Love how global this forum is.

Enjoy the rest of your day feeling warm and fuzzy with pride! :-)

I thought you said we were starting in November !!!!!! You beat me.... Very well done. That's great running. Congratulations.

Sorry !! I forgot!! :) But - the conditions are PERFECT here right now for PB's - it will be too hot in November. I will wait for you before I do another attempt just to prove that it wasn't a fluke!! :)

No - I had my barcode and my finish token -- I just kept them in my pocket until I realised AFTER I got home!! :) This is what happens when you get old!! :)

Well done Bazza that's amazing.

Achieving under 30 is amazing but at nearly 69. Gives me hope that I may hit that one day, under 30 I mean as I will obviously reach 69 at some point😂😂😂

Brilliant Bazza! I love the look on the guy on the right of the picture. It's like he's saying, " look at him go!"

That was about the 200 metre mark before the finish - I did "take off" and challenged the 30 minute pacer to keep up with me -- which he easily did of course , being a 24 minute runner himself (at age 66). All good fun !

I am enjoying my half bottle of Aussie Cabernet Sauvignon more than usual tonight. :)

Well done Bazza. Miles on the legs and sheer determination pay off in the end. A brilliant milestone for the man who stated in his early days on this forum that he couldn't see any reason why he would want to run 5k non stop!!!

Keep running, keep smiling.

Brilliant. Well done. Take it steady over the next few days. Those legs will need a rest after that punishment!!! What ag% does that earn you?

I just need to find myself an amazing pacer too. ☺
