Practising in our Great North Run T shirts

Coach Brody thought we should have a training session in our new t shirts for the mini run we are all doing the day before The Great North Run. Jessie and Brody were practising how they would look when they went over the finish line. Wee Fraser is too young to run it this year but happy to join in today. Brody has leukemia and will finish 3 yrs of daily chemo Jan 2016. He is the reason why his 61 yr old grandma is running the Great North Run sept 13th.

Beautiful photo, gorgeous kids (and grandma of course). Good on you all. It is a fantastic cause and so close to your heart. A lot of fantastic things are happening in research so the money will be well deserved. Tell us how the run went

Thanks nhs Past research has given Brody a fighting chance and hopefully future research can help make the treatment more bearable for children

You'll have a fab day on the Saturday, saw all the mini races last year after I did the 5k and it was great to see the children so enjoying themselves and getting their medals at the end. Good luck for the GNR!!

Thanks c4ts. It's going to be a bit of emotional weekend as the day of GNR will be 3 rd anniversary of when my my mum died. But watching childrens faces at these sort of events is just amazing. Better pack the Kleenex

No first time had ups and downs found it quite emotional. Did 11 miles last week on long run just tapering now and doing 20 - 40 mins and core training until the run what about you ? X

Yes emotions can be be quite overwhelming. Thoughts and conversations going round and round in your head about why you 're doing it.

Did my last long run on Frid but didn't go quite to plan - kept stopping between mls 7-9 for no real reason . After that was ok but whole run was much slower than I've been doing so going to have to rethink estimated time .

Was really grumpy when I tapered for my first HM in May so trying to keep positive this time . We can do this!

I am loving seeing your photo on this page Rona. The kids look fab, as do you. You know I'm off on holiday when you are doing the actual run but I will be thinking of you and hope it all goes really really well for you. Hope you manage to keep up with Jessie and Brody on the mini run too :) x

Thanks Beth . Yea Jessie speed merchant. Brody struggles bit with stamina/ sore legs just now so hopefully I can run with him and their dad will go off with Jessie. Brody is very competitive so can get frustrated - think his brain knows he could go faster but physically body letting him down. But he won't give up as he's always telling me once you start something you can't give up
