oh, it's just when I read "just completed" I thought it meant just now :) anyway 2 days rest may even be surprisingly good for your running - and it may be quite fun to run with a friend!

Hmm. I tried running with somebody else, but it was on the understanding that each person ran at their own pace. Just as well, as we ended up having very different speeds and ran at a distance from each other.

I'd say that you should only do the run once - and ideally you need at least a day's rest between runs for your body to sort itself out.

I understand this with different speeds and it probably will be ... today was rest day as yesterday was day one so technically tomorrow is day two.... would i be better to leave tomorrow and join friend on Monday?or do a little bit of day two tomorrow? will my body feel it more if i have two rest days?

You are likely to not suffer by having 2 rest days rather than 1, but you are likely to suffer if you run on 2 consecutive days. Please do run at your own pace, it's very important.

Running with a companion really does work. I don't think it would work so well for me if it was hubby, but defo with my friend. We chat as well! And yet when I am on my own I swear I am dying, fighting for every breath!

Go for it..I think you will enjoy it.

Your body will just do more repairs in the extra off day than it would have. (And if it doesn't need to, then you're in good enough condition already to take the occasional longer break, anyway). From what I've read online, it looks like early in a training programme, but once you've gotten a bit fit, it takes about a week to start losing fitness, not just days. And if you keep on longer, I've heard of fitness (at the peak level you've reached at the time) lasting up to a month before it starts to diminish.

So the fitness loss aspect of waiting till Monday is nothing to worry about.

The different paces might be another matter. Perhaps agree to meet up at the end this first time? That will give you an idea of what kind of next run you could do together. I'd imagine it could be nice doing it together with someone else, if only to be able to talk about it afterwards.

Do it Monday with your friend at your pace that your comfortable with.

Two days rest won't hurt you at all. Try going with your friend on Monday. I hope it works out because its so much nicer being able to run with a friend if you can.

I've just finished week 5. I usually have 2 rest days between the end of one week and the start of the next. If anything I think I benefit from it.

An extra day's rest won't hurt you.

I do the 3 runs of each week Mon, Wed and Fri and have the weekend off. Works for me. Week 6 starts on Monday
