The noises our shoes make

Now when I run with my NB, I "splat, splat, splat" along as I hit the ground with the ball of my feet. Running with my Asics, I "plonk, plonk, plonk" along as I hit the ground. And this morning, after "plonk, plonk, plonking" for a few K, a small bit of gravel lodged itself in the sole of my shoes, so it was "screech plonk, plonk, screech plonk, plonk, screech plonk, plonk" the rest of the way. Any more interesting noises ? πŸ˜‚

I mostly run in NIKE Free 5.0's - but I do have a pair pf Saucony Kinvara's. The Kinvaras are definitely "noisier" shoes to run in - they are not as flexible as the NIKE's - nor do they have that "slipper -like" feeling on the feet - and I think that their outer sole is a harder material.

People who are heel strikers often run in a way that they "slap" their forefeet down after they have landed on their heel. You can hear them coming a mile away!!! :)

We should all "Run softly- run silent".

I suppose shoes are a bit like car tyres. Some are more noisy on the asphalt

Will report back whether my NB also "splat, splat, splat" soon!

I suspect from the look of the weather out the window that today my footwear will be making squish squish squish splosh noises!

Well I listened carefully & can't quite work out the noise apart from hearing a distinct shuffle/scrape when I was getting tired.

Oh & I noticd I land more heavily on my left foot than my right......

Ha Ha, think I've already partly hit on this one, Pardon the pun! My NBs slap (old slapper) or splat a bit,

Then tick when I get a stone lodged in the tread..

"Run softly" "run silent" is easier said than done! Maybe when I've lost some more weight....πŸ˜‰

During a particular run on Sunday it was "Squelch squelch squelch!" :)

Squelch, squelch, squelch!!! - like purple_faced_woman - lovely running in the rain (personal preference! - cooling and refreshing) but as I noticed yesterday, very noisy in wet kind of way!! River in spate, running through mud, through streams which can normally be taken in a stride, wet shoes, dripping trees......you get the picture....but then it is summer!!??

I read this and thought you had seen me at the finish line "purple_faced_woman "!! :)

Describes me perfectly!

I was thinking about wearing littles bells around my ankles to drown the splat splat noise πŸ˜‚

Splash, splash, splash, squelch, squelch, squelch, scrunch, scrunch, scrunch, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh. Curbar Edge in some serious wind and rain and nice deep puddles. People in full walking fig were passing me saying "Giving up" and I swear a couple of mountain bikers wearing jackets looked at me as if I must be really hard.

Pat-pat-pat in my shoes, but that sound is drowned out by the horse-hoof-like clattering from the zip pocket in my capris, where I stash my front door key and asthma pump. Honestly, you can hear me coming for miles.

Pat pat pat sounds very dainty. You must be following Bazza advice and run quietly and softly. The zipper is just your alarm system πŸ˜‰

They are very well-cushioned shoes, plus I do try to run softly. It's downright impossible of course, but one day when I have more pockets I may achieve Bazza's level of silent Nirvana running (which I applaud, loudly :) ).
