I win again...

Against a rather enormous gremlin this time!

I was supposed to complete Week 3 last Saturday but I slept in. Then on Sunday I woke with a headache. This morning I had an almighty fight with my usual defeatist self i.e. 'you haven't run for 3 days you might as well give up as usual' blah blah blah!

But I DID IT!

I felt brilliant afterwards and have completed Week 3!

However, my left calf hurts a little despite warm up and stretching.. it hurt a bit after W3 R2. I hope this will just go away..

Anyway, I am looking forward to Week 4 on Wednesday. I am not looking at what it entails until the day dawns!

Happy Happy Happy!!!

Lucy

Good luck everyone!

Great, you're getting there and steaming through the programme I like reading your updates. One day I will see your graduation post and will say "I knew you could do it!!!" ;-)

Keep checking in, you're doing fab. :-D

Well done! I'm a bit like that with my weekly run with the local running group, but then feel so chuffed when I've completed it. Week 7 for me this week so getting very serious! Keep plugging away at it!

Hi RibbleLady,

OOhhh... week 7! I'm not even having a peek at that yet as it will terrify me! Good luck on you run too!

Way to go! I wonder how long it will be before three times a week is just something I do? Your doing fine!

Enjoy the road ahead!

Well done for getting out and completing it when you didn't really want to. My week 3 run 2 was like that and I felt better about that than I did about the runs where I've felt ready to go.

Hi Eastofthegate!

I know! The fight against adversity (or gremlins) makes it more satisfying! I bounced into work that day!

Good luck with your runs too!

Hi dawncoates34!

Oh my goodness!!!!!! A half marathon in 4 weeks!!! Makes me out of breath just reading that. I wonder if I will get to that point in running.. And you've only been running since March! Hope for me yet then!

I too have fought the demons and the aches and pains. I know just what you mean about wanting to not bother but then the elation at the end....makes you want to do it all again!

I over-did it on my first run of W7 so have taken an extra day due to a tender calf muscle. I feel a lot better today and will do my run this evening in the drizzly rain.

Make sure you are going at a comfortable pace, I find it all too easy to push myself a little. No idea why, it is not a race! Go steady and keep enjoying the feeling of accomplishment.

in reply to Idolitorus

Hi Idolitorus!

I don't think I have had the urge to overdo it yet! I have just been concentrating on breathing and finishing!

Week 7 seems such a long way off ...

Hope you recover well and good luck with the rest of week 7!

It's funny, but that is exactly what I thought and now here I am. Looking forward it seems so far to go, looking back it seems to have gone past so quick. When you think about it, the progress we make in only 9 odd weeks is pretty incredible.

You have done 3 so are into 4. Before you know it, that will be 5 done and that is only 2 weeks behind me. See how quickly it can go?

Believe in yourself, don't let the lows knock you. Look back often and see how far you have come. If you are like me, I concentrate too much on what is to come or how I am doing now compared to everyone else instead of realising just how far I have come. Remember week 1?
