Courses/segments on Garmin

Anyone know how these work? There was a race in my home town a few weeks ago, I missed it due to travelling, but someone who runs around here did it. I asked him (in my lousy French!) if he would make a "course" of the route, and he said he would, but I can't see it....do we need to be connected on Garmin before I can see it?

No, you don't - as long as he created it as a public object, I think.

Hmm, maybe he forgot or something.. I'll ask him if we can connect. I was gutted to miss the race, and would like to have a go at it on my own.

Hi Curlygurly, I'm still finding my way around Garmin Connect. When you find the answer, please share I could do with some tips.

At least it will be fun trying, we could always ask PP I here she is a wizard when it comes to Garmin 😊.

Aye Aye ! :-D

Yes , you can ask me anything about Garmin, anything.

Whether I will know the answer is a completely different matter altogether ! Ha ha :-)

Morning Frank and Curly :-) xxx

Afternoon Chris, The Garmin connect also baffles me sometimes, I went to reply to a post and it told me I wasn't registered for this? I was logged in so I don't know, I'll have another crack at it tonight but with me anything could happen. ☺️ xxx

Afternoon Frank :-) Yes I have had that and also the " you are unable to add a comment at this time "

Thought it was just me :-)

Mind you , giving a GPS technical piece of equipment to an hormonal , menopausal loony like me , what could possibly go wrong ? ha ha :-)

Are you hitting the road/street/trail today ? :-) xxx

Sometimes I think computers just try to wind you up, but I have already lost the plot so no change there. Tomorrow morning my next little adventure, how far not sure yet depends on these little legs if they want to move or not! ☺️ xxx

Once you've created a course, there is an option to share it with your contacts. Also, as Steve_L said, if the activity is public, then you only need to send the link to whoever wishes to view it (no need to be a contact).

Another thought: is there not a website giving the details for the race you missed?

There was a GPS trail showing the route taken, but given that it is a small area it was impossible to tell which route they actually took and how many times they went around a certain part. There were no stewards either, just direction arrows....

Surely they must have taken the one that goes near a brasserie or a café? :-P

Yes, I believe they ran past "Le Bistrot" at least 3 times! They certainly climbed up the top 3 times too... it was a Trail Urbain which is like an assault course...The chap who ran it is just someone I plucked up the courage to speak to (ramble at!) in the street, I've seen him running, he's not exactly a friend...

trailcordais.fr.gd/Un-parco... .

You can zoom on the map to see exactly what roads they ran on! And, if you click on afficher le parcours, you can save it as an TCX file, which then you can import into Garmin ;-)
