This morrning was my w9r1 day. So far i have only thought about completing the timesbut decuded today i wanted to make sure i ran 5k. I managed it in 40 minutes. Is this ok because prevbiously the most i have ran is about 3.5k. Onthe plus side nearly graduation time and only 4 weeks until my first ever beach run cant wait as we have decided to follow the run with a dip in the sea and breakfast in thebeach side cafe

It's more than ok, it's brilliant! Well done! Have you thought about going to Parkrun?

I know they say to do what Laura says, but I never really listened to Laura (I used a printed plan). If it felt right and you weren't pushing your body then go for it. I, and lots of others, graduated at Parkrun and I went from 5K to 10K on holiday in two steps rather than the 10% rule, but you have to be careful, and as a beginner it's difficult for me to know what is good aching and what is an injury.

Well done on completing your first 5k. Try Parkrun perhaps as your graduation run. You'll love it.

A dip in the sea sounds delicious after a run, You've inspired me! I might do a post graduation run at St Cyrus beach which is close to me, and just keep on running seaward at the end. Only if it's a warm as this mind!

I am not even going to think aboutbthe sea temperature in cornwall. I just know i wont be getting that clotted cream scone if i dont. No bacon butty for me for brekkie !!!

that sounds like a great way to end a run :D

some good advise from rmnsuk :D

Thanks for your comments. I have been toying with a park run as we have a regular weekly one very near to were i live. Just dont jnow if i have the confidence yet to go that public. Even though i run all the time now in public. A park run makes it all very real and i am scared in case i have to stop and walk. Even though i have not had to do this to date at all . maybe i just need to go ahead and do it. That attitude has got me this far so should get me throug a park run

Like a fledgling preparing to leap out of the nest! Try not to worry to much about the parkrun-just pick a date and go for it. And don't fret about walking-once you've run 5k there's no going back. Bit like riding a bike! Since your parkrun is so close, why not pop along one Saturday to check out the course and have a chat with some of the volunteers? Might calm your nerves a bit. Anyhow, the most likely thing to happen on your first run is that you'll knock a chunk off your best 5k time due to all the extra adrenaline! Good luck!
