Can anyone recommend a heart rate/ distance watch? I don't want to be spending too much. I feel like I am far enough in the programme now to treat myself to one :)

I'm not sure that there's a budget solution for you. I use a Garmin Forerunner 15, that cost about £100 from Amazon, and a Mio Link wrist HRM that links to the Garmin - about £40 I think.. I'm really pleased with what they give me.

They come in pretty much all budget ranges. What do you mean by "not too much"? ;)

I have a garmin forerunner 210. I really like it. You can set up interval running and set times or distances etc.

It does come with a heart rate monitor - but i'm a bit clueless on that at the moment.

They have a newer model - but if you find one of the old styles, you could get a cheaper deal.

I bought mine a few years ago from Amazon.

I have loads of gadgets myself. Some of them are: Garmin Forerunner 110, Forerunner 305 and Vivofit.

If all you ever want to do is basic running there are loads of options. If you also want it to be a day to day watch, activity tracker for steps, swimming and bicycling etc there's a new model out which seems promising called Garmin Vivoactive.

The Forerunner 110 does heartrate and distance but not any more advanced features like intervals or training workouts. The charging solution for the 110 is (in my opinion) abysmal. It's really hard to put on the charging clip which also doubles as Connection to the computer for syncing. On the other hand when you do have it charged it is very easy to use.

The Forerunner 305 has more advanced options like workout programs and a cycling mode. It's is quite large. I Think the successor 310XT is still sold and can be had a bargain prices.

A really good model from Polar is the M400 which is a bit of a bargain. It has an excellent featureset at the same pricepoint as the Forerunner 15 (which has less features but is a good basic running watch).

I usually read the Reviews on Amazon and dcrainmaker Before buying new gadgets. Especialy dcrainmaker is really knowledgable and an avid runner.
