Not mine, I hasten to add - this is the very splendid Joel Hicks of Always With a Smile, charity fundraisers extraordinaire and all-round good eggs. Amazingly, even though he was ill on the day, Joel not only finished the course (quicker than me) with a smile, he also managed to pick up the first pugel-stick gladiator (one-handed) and use him as a battering ram to get through the others.
That is totally my worst nightmare. I am such a girl.

I'd no idea what went on with these type of races so that certainly shed light on things. Is it mainly a young person's game? The only thing that really puts me off is going under filthy water. Yak!

I did the kids one (rock stars) with my two daughters but will definitely be doing the 10k one next year. We walked round and watched for a bit and it looked like so much fun! the slide looked amazing.
Yes, bruises notwithstanding (and there are lots of those), I have felt fine - no DOMS at all. I guess the constant immersion in icey water had the compression effect on my muscles all the way round.
Joel is a truly epic guy. He is now my sons' hero, and for some strange reason my wife seemed quite taken with him. I can't think why...

I think the elite wave is mainly a young person's game, but there were lots of people my age and I'm pushing 50 (God, that's a shocking thing to see in black and white!). Mud Life Crisis.

that looks excellent fun! the sort of thing i'd love to give a go but not sure i'd get through alot of it! there is an event on the IOW called "Rise of the Ronin "in May, going to go and have a look!
** that Joel guy really enjoyed himself loved his film! but does he get nipples like that from the cold water!! 
Rise of the Ronin looks like it might be quite special. I quite fancy it myself but I fear if I told my wife I'd booked any more events and especially on a Bank Holiday it might lead to Fall of the Rignold. The six hour Enduro sounds particularly fun.
