Officially graduated but injured!

I officially graduated yesterday! Can't believe what i have achieved! I have a slight problem though, after my run 2 of week 9, my left ankle has been so painful, very achy! I don't know whether I have been putting too much pressure on it due to me suffering with stitches when I run so after some research I started exhaling when my left side touched the floor! My left foot also seems to be less supported on my inner arch, maybe I'm flat footed, not sure what to do now! Should I now run with it strapped up? Don't want to stop running.

First of all.....yayyyyyyy!!! Congratulations :) as for the ankle, don't know if this is the same, but my ankle started to ache on one foot at week 7. I decided to rest, ice, apply gel, and took to the couch for about a week. Was worried that this was going to become a problem but it really has gone completely and I'm approaching week 9 now. You have to decide if it's pain (stop!) or niggley ache and have more rest days maybe? Good luck but take care too!!

What Northernspirit said! It might be a good idea to rest and give the ankle a chance to recover - and then enjoy a post-grad run.

Well done.

Just a thought. Have you had gait analysis done? I also had painful ankles when I got part way through the programme but having had gait analysis around week 8 and buying new running shoes the pain has gone. Of course it might have gone anyway and the new shoes could have been a coincidence!

Superb, well done on your graduation :D great achievement - as for the ankle definitely PRICE , as someone speaking from the Injury bench , a rest wont do any harm as hard as it is :D good luck hope it heals quickly

Thanks guys! I was going to go to sweatshop for gait analysis when I graduated, do you have to pay for it?

Can't help with the ankle, but congratulations on your graduation! I'm sure you'll be out there again soon. Happy running!

great news on graduating. Go for gait analysis, it does not usually cost anything. I took far too long to do it the first time, and in fairness even the second time when I really just needed a new pair of running shoes, but on both occasions i had niggles which could have been sorted more quickly had a realised how important the shoes are.
