I've been following this lovely site for a while but this is my first post. Unfortunately I'm on HU for two quite serious chronic conditions but when searching found C25K. I've been a keen runner for many years ( I'm now nearly 72 ) and find it great to see so many people taking it up and enjoying it. Running has kept me going through quite a few health problems and at the moment it's going really well. My real love is running off road on fells and trails.

Obviously my times getter slower but one advantage of running as you get older is you can do quite well in your age group !

I wish all you the very best.

Hi and welcome! Of course you can be on here! You may not have been on our journey but had your own and still running. Your experience and wisdom will be very helpful. Take a look at how we all started and what we are going through week by week and I am sure you will have kinds words and sound advice. We are a friendly bunch at all levels with one thing in common - our running ups and downs. Maybe you could help me. I have been a canal runner for over a year and moving to a house with land that I intend to run. How do I go from running on a flat trail to hills and fields? and what about running downwards, is there a skill? Keep reading, keep posting and happy running! :)

Not sure I can offer any great advice apart from encouragement. It's great to see people taking up running. Although I've been running for many years my wife daughter and granddaughter have all started quite recently.

Introduced my ten year old granddaughter to a Park Run just before Christmas and she beat me by over a minute !

Its great running off road - variety of terrain does I think help avoid injury.

What a lovely post Pilch and I hope you stick around and help us newbies out. Quite nice to think I might be running at your fine age.

Running off road as I got older was a great help. Much less strain on the old knees. I love to get a map out and plan routes on tracks and trails.
