Week 2 Delayed Because of Chesty Cold..

Hello everyone!

I am writing this from my sick bed which is pathetic. I'm a mature student (well, 26) and my class at college is quickly being picked off by a chesty cold thing, one poor girl has got glandular fever!

I was doing well on Week 1, up at 7.30 before college, running and walking in the brisk cold Edinburgh air and then a few days ago I realised I was wheezing when I walked. Quick trip to the docs and I'm all medicated up.

I want to start running because I am now automatically picking a size 16 in shops when I used to be a slim 14. I kept blaming my Bajan half of my enthicity ("Oh these huge hips, from Barbados, stuck with them.") and I have sort of been comfort eating since my boyfriend left for a cargo ship job in December. He's back in June. And when I pick him up from the airport it would be pretty cool to be just down one dress size.

I'm changing my eating habits.

I'm also making a dress that I'm wearing to a wedding later this year. I daren't cut the gorgeous fabric yet because I want to be a size smaller when I do.

Anyway, keep going! Hopefully I can shake this for at least mid week.

I'm not giving up, I'm just really not able to breathe right now.

Be sensible and run when you think you are better! A chest infection is not going to help long term. Get well soon :) and then run!

If the cold is on your chest you need to clear it before running - you will just end up in a coughing fit if you don't. Hopefully it won't be long, and you can quickly get back going again. Maybe do one more W1 run to make sure you are still ok - if so progress, if not complete w1 again. It won't be long before you are through.

That's a great goal right there! You meeting your boyfriend all toned, glowing and gorgeous. You've got plenty of time to finish this programme and lose some weight.

You're right to take time out for a chesty cough and you'll need to ease back into the runs carefully and very slowly and maybe you'll have to start with W1R3. But that's ok. If you're determined enough you'll do it. Good luck.
