Parkrun - where were the slow people?

Back from first parkrun like a drowned rat. Started at the back, thinking I'd plod along with the slow brigade, but everyone vanished and I was all alone, bringing up the rear, almost. Anyway, I finished, and wasn't quite last, and I felt ok at the end, so more evidence that miracles can happen!

Well done GLudwig! It's not a miracle, you've stuck to it and done great - congratulations!

Thanks Parky. Big difference to 9 weeks ago!

Ha, ha. Just come back too - my son said 'I'm not sure I'll do another one, I prefer running on my own' I said to him 'I WAS on my own!' Well done. Great fun.

in reply to Buffy007

Oh, that did make me laugh! Well at least we were on our own together!

Hey, was that your graduation run??

Yep it was! Wey Hey! Just been making some scones - so hungry! Couldn't take the token from the volunteer at the end - so exhausted. And my goodness, that wind - I was running bent over into the wind, downhill, at the end. But amazing experience. I'll post again. Just made some scones - haven't even had a cup of tea or shower yet!

Oh well done!! You definitely deserve a scone or four after that. Congratulations! Looking forward to your graduation post x

I'm always nearly at the back and every time I manage to get round ours I feel its a little miracle but I enjoy it, it gives me a running focus every week and I'm determined to get my 50 t-shirt !!

Well done you for giving it a go (It takes a certain amount of courage to go and run with people who are very fast) and now you have to back to see if you can beat your time....Don't you ?

in reply to

How many have you done so far? And yes, I think I'll give it another go next week, and I'll know what to expect next time

in reply to

Today was no 24 so I am hoping to get there by the end of the year...even if I have to crawl round !! Enjoy doing it all over again next week...

well done GLudwig! congratulations on your 1st parkrun! I was in drowned rat mode at mine today too! :)

in reply to aliboo70

Not the best day out there, is it? At least when you're drowned it cools you down a bit!

You did it Gludwig - don't feel saddened or put off where you finish - I am always near the back but it does not matter and Parkrun is such a great idea, the only time that is important is your time.

Great run, Gludwig - and you too, Buffy. No doubt we'll be seeing you back at 9:00 next Saturday.

Not so very slow after all, just got my time, 34:26!! I've done three 5Ks this week and that was the fastest and I wasn't too worn out at the end, so very happy :)

Well done! You are braver than me .............. I bet in another 9 weeks time you'll have shaved quite a bit off this initial time :)

That's a brilliant time! Well done you, you're faster than me! I like being near the back, trundling and wobbling along, suits me fine! And what's that phrase again? Last (or near last) is better than did not finish, and blasts did not start clean out of the water!

hey well done Gludwig :D you did it !!! super effort you know what to expect next time :D I hope you were encouraged along the way by the vol's :D

Ive just seen your time! That's a brilliant time! Your Parkrun must be a fast course that's all I can say.

Well done, GLudwig. Your parkrun is faster than ours - under 35 mins is great for a first time.

Well done GLudwig! You made it and that is what matters. It must be very different running with others all around you and finding the right pace.
