I've been doing a little Googleing, I think what I have is Bursitis, it doesn't really show up here in the photo, but It doesn't actually sound too serious - ice, anti inflammatories, cortisone injections etc...I hope I'll be back in the saddle so to speak soon....

Next up Dan's groin...

Doesn't show up? Hmm - no, it does! That's quite a lump you've got yourself there!

It looks much worse "in the flesh" so to speak, and goes bright red if I put a running shoe anywhere near it..

That is definitely a lump ! The man in the shoe shop is right, that needs some attention, hope it's simple to sort out. Fingers crossed for you. Dan's groin.....just...no !

"Next up Dan's groin"?

Well, we've all got to have goals, I guess.

That does look most uncomfortable, CG. Just make sure you need the 'Rest' component of RICE until it is properly better. I'll squeeze over on the Injury Couch and we can munch toast and watch B&W films under a recovery blanket till we're better.

Although the way things are going we're going to need that double-decker couch from the Lego movie pretty soon.

I thought bursitis was liquid filled rather than solid. That looks bony

Doctor's for you missus. I don't think Dr Google has the definitive diagnosis

Looks flipping painful. Here's a hug!

Yes, just back from the docs, it's a bunion...

Do you have to have an op Curly ? Is there any alternative way to get rid of it ? xxx

No, I have to give up running...yeah right! My first shoes, then Asics that wore out at least didn't hurt, I'll probably try those again..

I was about to say it was a bunion as I have one, very painful if shoes press on it,get a shoe stretcher and stretch the area with the little bits you get with the stretcher,it helps to loosen the pressure in that area.

That's a very good idea, thank you! I just Googled stretchers, I didn't realise you could buy them for home use, and so cheaply too. At the very least I'll pop in to Timpsons and ask them for advice. I tried the stretcher spray but that didn't do much.

The weird thing is I am fine when running, it's walking in running shoes that causes the problems xx

Oh my...it does look bad! Hope it is fairly straight forward for you

Ouchy that looks bad Curly - off to the GP with you and get better soon. Now where's that picture of my calf?

I remember a nasty do I had years ago. My bunions were surgically correctly when I was a child which helped immensely but I'm still quite sensitive and I had some new shoes which I think (as did my GP) set off an acute arthritis. Ibuprofen helped *a lot* with the inflammation (I'd avoided taking it before seeing my GP), and a TENS machine helped with the pain (I couldn't walk or sleep)

Demonstrably, it did get better but I have learned that I cannot put up with a less than perfect fit.

I hope yours recovers as fast as mine did.

Ooh ow! No wonder you were having shoe problems! Still worth checking out with the doc though and hopefully it won't take too long to be in some lovely new shoes again

Call that a foot lol. Should have seen mine when my illness first started it was like bungles foot it was huge. Hope it's better soon and your back running

I'm sure there are many thousands of people running with bunions so I think you'll be ok

My sister had hers done - not saying that you have to - but she's fine now and goes to the gym all the time doing various physical jerks. Is doc referring you to a specialist. It can be smoothed off. Anyway you'll get the treatment you need hopefully now

Is the pain just from the friction where it catches your shoe, or is it pain from the bunion? Like the guy in the shop says, you can cut that bit out of the shoe

I take a daily omega 3 fish oil capsule for my arthritic big toe and it's the best thing since sliced bread

complicatedday.blogspot.co.... Some food for thought ? Of course you can't stop running ! You have put so much effort into it...Fingers crossed you find a solution.
