Hi John

I'm off to London tomorrow for the Winter 10k on Sunday.

My nearest park run is Huddersfield about 7 mile from where I live. I've wanted to go park run for last two weeks but it's been too icy, it's not looking good for tomorrow either as ice has been forecast tonight.

Hope you have a good park run, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the Huddersfield lot tomorrow.

When I read your reply at first I thought it was JohnBlake, I thought Wow park run Saturday & 10K Winter run Sunday !!! Impressive.

Then I saw it was from you Miles, Save Journey Down from Sheffield. And Good luck with your Run tomorrow, I think Im going to struggle to get to the C25K meet at 8:30. But I will look out for everyone after the run.

Don't be nervous, you'll have a great race - it'll be a lot of fun and you'll really enjoy it I'm sure.

No, no Parkrun for me, but I did do 2K of icy hills this morning, though quite gentle!

Hey Drakey, nerves are normal, please dont worry.

When I went to see my Running Doc last week and told him I was doing the Great Manchester Run, he asked me how I felt. I said " Im excited, but nervous "

He told me to lose the nerves and just to enjoy the run. He said people will pass you and you will pass other people , there are people in fancy dress, serious runners, fun runners , bands playing along the route, drinks stations. He also told me not to be worried if I felt the need to stop and walk for breather .

I am sure your race will be the same.

You can do it John, you're from Gods Own County and we're made from strong stuff - Nuff said ! xxx

I am! As long as it's not called off. Local uni are doing a beetroot juice trial so I need to drink it before the run tomorrow and again next week. One of the drinks is the real stuff the other isn't. Us runners won't know which week we are drinking the real thing. It will be interesting to see the results!

I don't know all the ins and outs but I think it's meant to enable you to exercise for longer or reduce your oxygen requirement. So maybe we shall see some enhanced performances! Mind you there are so many variables I don't know that a short trial like this will prove anything one way or another. I will let you know if I suddenly run it in 20 mins!

Good luck caroline you'll like the appley course, it gets you a good pb time as lovely and flat though sometimes windy , I'm having a day off before LWR, got an achy leg, but see you another week? Good luck youll enjoy it

I'm stomping my little feet here! (Gingerly though, so as not to aggravate an ankle twinge I seem to have today.) I want to do a parkrun, but we don't have any on island as far as I can tell. I hear you all saying such great things about them. I'll be going across to Hull in early March all being well, so will hopefully find out what I'm missing out on by trying the one in East Park.
