Just started the couch to 5K plan, not very fit but not that unfit either, and also overweight...I have completed week 1 run 1 and 2 and the third tomorrow...as I huff and puff, sweat and look like a beetroot a skeletal male passed going the other way at a fast pace , no sweat , no red face and no puffing , smiled and raised a hand as a hello....LOL....goodness knows what he thought....hey ho we all have to start somewhere...

Indeed we do! There is no shame in getting out there, however red in the face you are! Well done, and keep posting!

I'm willing to bet good money that he thought "good on him/her, it's great to see someone new take charge of their health".

Agree wholeheartedly with useitorloseit, there's no shame at all. Quite the oppoite. There's a lot of reasons for congratulating you.

Good luck for tomorrow, i bet he thought "very well done!" as he went past, you're getting out there and putting the effort in which is FANTASTIC!!!! :)

He will no doubt remember how hard it is to start running and was commending your effort :-)

Definitely an inspiration seeing people actually running (rather than jogging) with no visible effort!

Keep going, that could be you in six months :-)

good for you for being out there :D he probably didnt think anything other than seeing another runner :D we all started at week 1 looking and feeling like you , so keep at it week 1 nearly done how great is that :) something to celebrate already :D :D well done

I bet he thought 'Oo, another runner, we're all in this together, let's say hello'. That's you, that other runner, no matter how huffy, puffy and beetroot. We're off the couch and that's what matters. Good for you.

week 1 run 3 - no sight of the male jogger today-just 3 people all on their bikes, but all said hello and smiled....and I even managed a hiiiiii......huff puff but I did it...although what I remember from previously exercising is the painful shins...I tend to wibble alone on the outside of my feet...which is supination I think...I probably will need some new trainers as my Nikes as getting old...and maybe even a shin compression....but week one BIG TICK!!! and I have lost 3 pounds...and not the money sort either!!!
