6 week break, return and why a treadmill doesn't seem too bad.

It's been a while since I posted here. Happy New Year to all!

I stopped running for a week due to lack of motivation in November, was off for another 10 days sick and then the winter kicked in. It ended up being 6 weeks without running.

I restarted last week at the gym on the treadmill. Week 6 run 1 for the first one and today on my third run I did a 25 minute run. A 3 month membership for the gym was a nice Christmas present.

Running on the treadmill wasn't bad at all. I had my headphones on and got into a rhythm . The alternative (outside) was impossible as you can see from today's weather pictured below. The walk to the gym was treacherous.

Hi Lavender, good to have you back!

I have had to resort to the treadmill because of dark nights and icey paths, but I can't say that I enjoy it : (

Its altogether too hot in the gym and I just seem to struggle with getting into a steady rythm for long runs, so I am still getting out on the road on a weekend when the weather permits.

I think part of my problem is the 'pretty young things' that are running at a fast pace right next to me - I am waaaay past 'young' and have never been a fast runner - 9km/hour is my fastest pace! I think I need blinkers as well as headphones lol

I think maybe I enjoyed the return to running more than the treadmill. I most likely will be less enthusiastic after a few more sessions.

I'm not very young either but the place I go has all ages. I'm happy when I can find a treadmill with empty ones beside.

Blinkers would be helpful

Not surprised you've taken to the treadmill. That looks treacherous! Nice pressie though!
