I only went an' blooming did it!...

Wahooooo! I was DREADING the first run on week 3. Imagining ALL sorts of mishaps...asthma attack, heart attack (I'm dramatic, what can I tell ya?!), ankle sprain, knee injury, you name it, I'd imagined it. Worst of all, failing when I'm enjoying the challenge and wanting this so much.

My friend and I were hugging and whooping near the beach (much to the amusement of passers by). We couldn't believe that two 61 year old biddies had come so far in just over two weeks.

Thank you so much for your words of wisdom and encouragement, I probably would have bailed if I hadn't joined this forum.

My dog thanks you too! Apart from nearly getting her face chewed off by a grumpy little terrier she went too close to, she's LOVING it!

Can't wait for Saturday's run now...Wahooooo! Sorry, still buzzing...

Fabulous well done to you & your friend. It is amazing how much we can do and don't realise it. Keep going and you'll keep achieving incredible milestones :)

I can absolutely see why it can become addictive. Often wondered why my eldest daughter goes out in the dark, wind and rain! I'm on to her now, ha ha ha! Thanks for comment.

well done jj! sounds like you are enjoying your achievements, and so you should.

I started out on my C25K journey by running on the beach in winter so no one would see me struggle. Plus it was a place where I didn't mind dying - having assumed from my heart rate that death must be imminent during the first 3 weeks. And then the achievements kicked in and I was forever walking off the beach with a big grin on my face!

I have been running for a whole year now and the smiles and air punches keep on coming. I ran 11k last weekend (mainly due to my balls up of calculation of distance/time) and virtually skipped through my 5 minute warm down walk with an unshakeable grin on my face.

Keep up the good work and keep enjoying the runs : )

That's the spirit ! and that's why you should not look ahead....what you can imagine is always worse than the reality. Keep at it and you'll be doing those 30 minute runs in no time at all.

JenJan, Well done, add this to your building up confidence. It's really great you have braved the elements. I bet doggie is happy ,never had so much fun; sorry about this arrogant terrier, glad she is all right. I did week 3 and it's daunting at first. I think that's waht you call "a challenge".

If yo feel you need to slow down a little, you can do so. Even slowing down will build you your endurance, because you are on the move. I'll think of you on Saturday. Imagine mince pies at the end of the way! Good for you, Mic

Thanks for your encouragement. No mince pies for me though, still need to lose 3 stone so watching my calories. I must admit, it was barely a jog but I didn't stop at least. Supposed to be even colder on Saturday so that'll be interesting. Thanks again...

It really works, I still can't believe it's me who's running...must be someone else...You do look fab as JuJu says, I thought you were about 30..

Ha ha. I know what you mean! When I started losing a serious amount of weight I couldn't believe it had gone forever, I kept thinking it had just gone south.

REALLY laughing out loud here 'cos most of mine HAS, gone south that is. Just realised the relevance of Miss Wobble! I SHOULD have named myself undulating-mass-of-flab!!! Still laughing...
