Positive thinking...

That's what I needed today. I struggled today, I didn't get enough sleep last night (DH was away) and it was warm and I changed my route a little bit as well. My pace was slower than Sunday and I really didn't feel as focussed today. But, I did it - I managed to run for 28 mins again. Ok, I was slower, but blimey, a few weeks ago I could barely run for a minute.

Why are we so tough on ourselves - if I hadn't run today, I would have been really cross, but instead I am beating myself up about running a tiny bit slower. Wednesday night I will make sure I get to bed earlier and try not to worry about my speed when I do the final run of Week 8 on Thursday.

Onwards and upwards......

One thing I've learnt runningknitter is that you get good days and you get bad days. There's no point beating yourself up about the bad days. Just get through them and for inspiration take a look back at where you've come from! I mean if we all got faster every time we went for a run, how many more 'Mo Farah's' would there be?!

If you are running 28mins nonstop then you must be on wk8 and that is already a fantastic achievement! Well done! Now set yourself some realistic / achieveable goals and enjoy the ride! It just keeps getting better and better :)

The next run will be better. That's what we tell ourselves and it's why we keep doing it. Good int it!

Don't fret yourself over it. You'll be fine.

Hey well done.

Marginally slower - no matter. The main thing is you did it. Is it week 8 run 2? That's brilliant, only 4 to go!

I am one week behind you. We'll get there! X

I agree with everything Kingfisher says. You've come so far, you could still be sat on that couch but your not so you should be very proud of yourself.

Good luck with your next run.

Thank you. It is all about putting it into perspective isn't it. A few weeks ago I would never have imagined that I would have been able to run 28 mins.

Well done running knitter. Week 8 and doing fine!

Slow and steady is perfect; it will see you through week 9 to that shiny Graduation badge :)

Some of the happiest posts on here have been when runners have ditched the watch, or the Garmin or whatever other gadget and just run for the pleasure of it. No goals, no pressure, just the open road.

I, too, in my advanced years have stopped worrying about any of that. I go out, I run, maybe walk a bit, run a bit more.....whatever feels good on the day!

Happy running :) xx

Well done on getting out there RK :)

It was just one of those so-so days that we all have (I had a couple in week 7) and likely as not you're next run will be good. You made it round, did the 28 minutes, and ticked off that run forever.

As you say, onwards and upwards!

Nearly there now. I'll look out for you joining me in week 9 :)

Know exactly how you feel - we're both on the same week /run my sunday run was slow and laborious on a course I've runs a couple of times before, still did the 28 mins and got it done. My second run was back to last weeks rate and a little further due to the extra mins. Its how we feel on the day but its not important just getting out there running makes you feel so much better than moping around and making excuses.

Well done to any one who gets out there :)
