Week 7 begins...

So I have changed my running schedule - I am now going to try and run Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday - so today was the first run of Week 7. I decided to run my route the other way today, which was odd when Laura suggested it at the beginning of the podcast. It has taken a long straight out of my route, and I am really glad about that. It is on a slight incline, and I just look ahead and think it is never going to end!

The first 5 minutes of running were tough, then after 10 minutes my breathing had settled down and I was into a good rhythm. The temperature was picking up again and I didn't have a lot of sleep last night (I must start going to bed earlier) and at the 20 minute mark I was thinking I was going to have to stop, but I thought no, I managed to run for 25 minutes on Thursday - I can do this....I even managed to pick the pace up in that last minute. I have a bit of a twinge in my left calf so lots of stretching and a bag of runner beans applied to it will hopefully help.

Keep wondering when it is going to feel a bit easier....but the sense of achievement at the end is just so good!

RK well done!! Week 7....!!! Remember to take your time on the last few runs to make sure that you manage to keep going to the end of each one. I'm repeating C25K at the moment and am finding again that it takes a while to get into some sort of rhythm but am so d#=n pleased with myself when I have completed each run it's ridiculous! Runner beans?! Have you had a glut too?!!

I have noticed on Map My Run that my pace keeps creeping up so it is no wonder that each run feels a bit harder! What week are you at? No gluts here - we haven't grown anything this year - it was the bag at the top of the freezer!

I'm at about the same; week 7 run 2. Need to go tomorrow and get run 3 out of the way! Lovely husband bought me a Garmin when I was out of action earlier in the year and thought that I'd never be able to run again, so I might dig it out and see how far I'm going now although I expect it'll probably be a huge disappointment. Still, little by little..!

Look after those calves; I intend to do the same!

Hi RK - glad you got out there again :)

Honestly, I found week 7 hard - there's no variation and no massive highs like W5R3, so changing something is probably a good idea to keep interested. I added a bit more to the route I've been using since day 1, and I did a couple of non-Laura runs with my own music which I really enjoyed. Don't know if changing what you're listening to is an option - might help distract from the relentless feeling of the continuous runs that we've not yet become accustomed to?

Anyway, although it's a bit dull, week 7 does get you used to non-stop runs. I've just finished it and I do feel good and ready to move on to week 8. I don't know about easier, but now it's so close to the end I feel certain that I'll be able to graduate, so it's certainly given me confidence.

Best of luck with the rest of week 7 :)

I found the W7 podcast music a bit dull and Laura not terribly encouraging, so I listened to W6R3 for my other W7 runs and it was a much jollier experience. Plus I got to hear that I was officially a runner again at the end, which made me smile :)
