W1R2 done

It was hard and my legs hurt but I did it even though I didn't manage to run all of the 7th minute! In the rain as well. Not sure how many times i will need to do W1 before I am ready to move on.

Hey good for you ! You do it as many or few times as you like as long as you're happy :)

Well done - the couch is even further away now ;)

Well done, little by little is the way to go and little by little it will get easier and you will feel better for it.

Thanks Paul. I know it will get easier. Just not looking forward to how my legs are going to feel tomorrow :-)

We all started in the same place, starting and sticking with it are the main things, well done!

Well done LizB! It's not a race so take your time and repeat runs if you need to. Enjoy the journey!

Well done. Any aches tomorrow are just a reminder of how well you are doing.

Well you got out there and did it. It will get easier and your legs will hurt less as they get used to it. Good luck for your 3rd session of W1

Thanks lovely people for your kind words and encouragement. Roll on Friday!!

Well done Liz!!! You star. Going out in the rain is already hardcore. I'm doing R2 tomorrow morning. Been stretching my legs like crazy and rubbing in ibuprofen gel and think I'm ready. You are making me eager to get out there. Rest well before R3 and good luck with it. Sounds like you are already doing fab :-)

Thanks Lalaeghiz. Hope it goes well today and you enjoy it. :-)

Hi there. How is it going? Have you recovered enough to do your next run? Hope so. :-)

W1R2 done yesterday morning yay! Went out in the rain and felt like a proper runner ha ha. I was worse than the first one and couldn't quite do 60secs on the 6th and 7th runs. Funny how I always manage on the last one no matter what! Had very bad pain under edge of right foot. Maybe tied laces too tight. When is your R3 Liz? I'm hoping for Saturday if quads are not hurting too much. Well done again on your achievement. We are doing it. We are really doing it :-D

Great post , well done :)

Well done. Hope your foot is OK. When I first started trying to run I used to get little aches and pains but I mostly ignored them unless they stayed after my run or got worse. I did change my shoes at some point which helped.

It is a great feeling to get out there and do it isn't it. I am really finding it a good discipline otherwise I would dither about whether to go or not and would probably not try as hard as this makes me. I found the second one harder than the first and couldn't run all of the 7th one. Due to do 3rd one today but have sore legs after exercise class on Weds. I will give it a go and see how I get on. I expect I will have to do W1 a couple more times before moving on to W2. Will let you know how today goes. :-)

W1R3 done! Hurrah! And I managed to run all the minutes and did a sneaky extra minute at the end. Feeling very pleased with myself. I think I will do this one once more though before I move on to W2. Off for a soaky bath and am going to have a glass or two of red wine to celebrate.

Fab news ! Well done you :)

Well done! Slow and steady is the way to do it... move on when you're ready (but also know that you're probably ready once you've done all of Week 1 for Week 2 - trust the programme and go slow!!).... Why not try W2R1 (go slow) and see how you get on? If you need to stop after 60 seconds then fine... no problem there at all... you might just surprise yourself though! :)

Good luck with Week 2! You can do it!

Thanks Aussie. Will see how brave I am feeling on Sunday! :-)

Oh Liz that is brilliant. I'm giving you a well deserved pat on the back. You must be so pleased.

I'm doing R3 tomorrow morning as thankfully I could walk normally today and was not doing the robot. One days rest should be fine instead of 3 like last time.

I'm going to do my best but think I will be sticking with W1 for a bit longer too until I can do all the running bits. It helps that I've changed my route so I only go down a hill instead of up :-D

Keep letting me know how you are getting on!

Will do. And let me know how you get on tomorrow. Today was the first one where I managed to run all the minutes so hopefully you will too. Hills are evil!!! So good idea to avoid them for now although it is amazing that when you start running you realise that places you thought were flat actually have a gradient!

It's a real shocker. I have to confess I'm usually a passenger in a car when I go along busy roads and I've not noticed the gradient at all. I cannot believe I didn't consider it when planning my route. Know better now!

I was so elated over my quads being good I ignored the fact my back is hurting. Even my boss noticed I was rubbing it yet I took no ibuprofen. Last night I woke up time and time again in pain. Will apply ibuprofen gel and try R3 tomorrow morning instead. I cannot believe I look forward to a run this much and I'm gutted not to go. Oooh I've changed.

How are you recovering after R3, feeling good?

in reply to LalaEghiz

I had forgotten the back soreness! I can recommend biofreeze for aches and pains. And heat is fab for sore back, I use a hot water bottle or a hot gel pack. And it is worth doing some exercise to strengthen your core as that takes the strain off your back. My legs feel tired rather than sore and I did manage to do my exercise class this morning. I am planning to go out again tomorrow otherwise I will have to leave it until Tuesday. Will probably do the W1 tomorrow and W2 on Tuesday. Looks as though the weather will be better. Let me know how you get on tomorrow. I am really enjoying doing this, really positive feeling.

Liz how you doing? I've recovered well from W1R3 but tomorrow repeating W1 again until I know I can do all the runs. Want to take it slowly.

Still have back niggles but is very bearable.

Have you managed to head out again?

I'm impressed you do exercise classes as well. My rest days have certainly been that but have downloaded some core strength exercises to do. Let me know how you're getting on.

Hi. Glad you are recovering. I was going to head out on Sunday but all that exercise caught up with me so I had a rest day and just bimbled about in the garden. Going out today and will try W2R1 and see how I get on. I dont expect to be able to do all the runs but thought I can build it up. Will let you know how I get on!

Yes please do! I don't know if you are supposed to do it perfectly before you progress or just keep on at it!

I was supposed to go this morning but turned off my alarm and immediately fell asleep again. I think 6.15am is a little optimistic for my lazy bones. Tomorrow at 6.45am it is :-)

Good luck Liz!

I think 6.15 is too early! I did W2R1 but struggled with it and didn't enjoy it. I think I would have been better doing W1 once or twice more before moving on. I suppose the next one won't be any harder. Good luck tomorrow. :-0

Just off on holiday for a couple of weeks. Planning to keep the running going but wont be checking in here. Good luck with your runs, just work at your pace and keep going!! :-)
