Couldn't believe it. My knee began to niggle at 20 minutes mark, focused on my form, slowed a bit then sped up. I checked my iPhone and I was knocking out of the park. The last mile I ran at 9 min 19 second mile pace!!! I monstered it. Went home and signed up for my very first parkrun next week. I'm going to resist the temptation to do a 5k over the next week. I want my very first outdoors 5k to be done at parkrun!!

Super excited!

That's fantastic and glad knee held up, make you treat it right over the next couple of days.

Well done Gazter, great performance, but Vixchile is right, look after your knees - you can't run without them :)

Most definitely. I'm ultra paranoid about my knees. I do stretches and strengthening exercises to overcome weaknesses. I run at a high 180 beats per minute to force myself to take small steps and not stretch my legs out in front of me when running.

To go faster I don't increase my stride or steps per minute, I lean forward... I know. Weird. It's a chi running technique. Before I did that I couldn't get past eight minutes without terrible knee pain.

Great reply Gazter. I've heard of chi running and looked at a couple of things on line about it. Will give it another look now, as anything to avoid further knee trouble sounds good to me.

Well done. Is the park run going to be your graduation run?

Happy running

Yes!! Week nine run three will be on the sat morning. Based on yesterday's run it will be anywhere between 31 and 35 mins.

I'm going to do my next run at a really steady slow rate. Leave a few days and just power through Saturday.

I might end up graduating on Wednesday though. Depends. I won't run that 5k distance though. I'm saving that for Saturday!
