What exactly is a slow jog?

I've watched Laura's video: she goes at quite a speed. And everyone on here ( and Laura) keeps saying keep it slow and steady. If I was any slower I'd be walking. Seriously folks; I feel like a pleb. What IS an acceptable slow jog?

It's the type of movement that is necessarily different, not the speed of that movement.

It's not much faster than a walk. You don't bend your knees much and your feet don't go very high behind you. I jog this way mostly. It all counts!

I don't think you should worry about it so much. The idea is to eat up the miles over time.

Slow and steady is the key otherwise your more likely to get injuries, dropout etc.

If it bothers you overall get to the distance then worry about your pace.

Whatever feels comfortable to you. Ignore what other people are doing. From a distance everyone looks as if they are running faster. Its just their style.

Whatever feels comfortable to you. A lot depends on how physical fit you are. For myself, I find running at 3.0 mph on the treadmill a comfortable pace. Sometimes I'll even slow I down to 2.8 if I feel myself getting sluggish. It's really an individual thing. I'm overweight and have COPD, so I factor those things into my runs. Good luck with the program and listen to Laura...I couldn't have gotten through this without her. She's a great coach. :)

Run how you want to. You will settle into a rhythm that suits you. I know laura says to try and pick your feet up and make a circular, pedalling motion but it's easier said than done. Barely picking your feet up, in a slow shuffle might be all you can manage. Jeff galloway, running guru, advocates the slow shuffle. Imran a 10 mile race the other week and there was plenty of it going in

I class a slow jog as something just a little faster than a walk, I still have days where I have to do the slow jog round my route for one reason or another.....not that I'm usain bolt the rest of the time ;-) but again it doesn't matter you're out there doing it xxx

The point is to learn to pace yourself and find a pace that you an keep up for the whole of the run. If you try to go too fast you will burn out quickly. Mine varies according to the gradient, the slightest incline and I have to slow right down. I know we feel that everyone is looking at us and laughing, but I honestly think no one actually notices us at all!

Someone said they finally understood it when they were "running" with a toddler. All the running action, very little forward motion. Yes, it can seem pointlessly slow. But it isnt, really.
